Another open-air memorial in the Washington area is closed and barricaded off: the Iwo Jima Memorial, just across the bridge from D.C. in Rosslyn, Virginia. A source sends along this picture of the barricade set-up at the memorial, which is also called the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial:
"I took the picture yesterday afternoon. Those barricades had been there at least a day. People can still walk into the Memorial area, but for many elderly and disabled vets, it is important they be driven and park right next to the statue," the person who took this picture emails.
"There has been no coverage of Iwo Jima being closed and it is a routine stop for Honor Flight visitors."
The source adds: "This picture is from North Marshall Drive (100 yards up the hill from the 110) facing the only road in and out of the Memorial for cars. There are parking spots for cars and buses right next the Memorial that can only be accessed via this road. Interestingly too, the view you see is also the last 200 yards of the Marine Corps Marathon which is in three weeks. That would be 20,000 pissed off runners who have trained for months."

EVERY .gov website I have tried to access is CLOSED because of the shut down.
WHY IS THE OBASTARDCARE WEBSITE STILL OPEN AND WHY ARE THE HOTLINES STAFFED?
We know the answer but why do we put up with it?
I was just on the federal Bureau of Prison website. It is functioning.
Either one’s a good excuse for the USPP SWAT Team to open fire.

Oh, wait.
Cops: "Target practice!!"
Oh, good. I need that one and use it just about every day... not. I don’t know why anybody that isn’t dealing with the Bureau of Prisons needs that. Not a common activity for most citizens.
“People can still walk into the Memorial area, but for many elderly and disabled vets, it is important they be driven and park right next to the statue”
Sounds like an ADA violation.
<< You know I thought the Mahdi’s Chicago mafia were clever in an evil, immoral, scheming way. But they are revealing themselves to be dimwit douches in their total misunderstanding of how rank and file Americans will see such actions. >>
I’ve been thinking on this for days now. It’s not like the Kenyan doesn’t have advisors to explain that here in America we love our military, and in the heartland, even Dems are patriotic. Yet, he’s still doing it. Why? It’s just not smart strategically.
Either:
1) They’re ALL emotion-driven dumbasses, not just the Kenyan, and there are no adults in his inner circle to talk some sense into him. Since they’re so emo-driven, they don’t care that their actions will drive Dems into the Republican camp in future elections. Like the Beatniks they were decades who, it’s all about ME, ME,ME, and the emotional thrill they get from sticking a knife in the back of “The Man” is worth what it’ll cost future Dem politicians. Or...
2) They’re just plain dumbasses who think this is good PR. Or...
3) They simply don’t care what this looks like to everyone between the east and left coasts, because:
A. Their plans for Amerika’s future don’t require faux caring at this point. Whatever it might be they are planning, it’s close to blastoff time, so it’s ok to lose all pretense of caring for patriotic, retired, elderly military members.
Or...
B. ??? (I’m stuck here.)
Architectural Barriers Act
The Architectural Barriers Act (ABA) requires that buildings and facilities that are designed, constructed, or altered with Federal funds, or leased by a Federal agency, comply with Federal standards for physical accessibility. ABA requirements are limited to architectural standards in new and altered buildings and in newly leased facilities. They do not address the activities conducted in those buildings and facilities. Facilities of the U.S. Postal Service are covered by the ABA. For more information or to file a complaint, contact:

NPS employees need to think really hard about what they are doing. They need to make sure, damn sure, that what they are doing is something they can live with for a long time.
I really wish the sheeple had longer memories. Every time I see a smokey bear hat from this day forward I will think Gestapo and enemy of the people and be filled with resentment to them.
They can follow orders any way they want to. What they are doing is not serving their employers but instead serving who they have allowed to become their masters.
Shame on them. They should hide their faces in shame.
Remember the NPS in the shut down! Forever.
I wish the sheeple would remember obastard and this dreadful, shameful, humiliating 8 year chapter in the history of our late great nation. I’m afraid it will continue though... hard work, ethics and responsibility can’t trump the promise of free crap.
I’m surprised the soldiers are still GUARDING the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. If they are, he probably overlooked it. Does he even know it exists?
As I said on another thread........we need to archive all of these threads (and pictures) and toss it in their Marxist faces next election cycle!
Again I say, and I mean it “THIS IS THE DEMOCRAT PARTY HARRASSING WE THE PEOPLE.”
Yeah man. My father, WWII vet, Utah Beach. Lost him in 1986.
He thinks Obamacare is going to be his note in the books of history. No so, he will go down as the most petty president in the history of this country.
Amen.
I know which side of the Barrycades I’ll be on, will history record these events of the next few days are our Concord Green, Lexington and Concord. Where is our Captain Johnny Parker
That is correct!
CNY veterans visit D.C. memorials despite government shutdown
A reason to be proud to live in NY, and I know there's not many.
