Feds Try to Close the OCEAN Because of Shutdown

Just before the weekend, the National Park Service informed charter boat captains in Florida that the Florida Bay was "closed" due to the shutdown. Until government funding is restored, the fishing boats are prohibited from taking anglers into 1,100 square-miles of open ocean. Fishing is also prohibited at Biscayne National Park during the shutdown.

The Park Service will also have rangers on duty to police the ban. Of access to an ocean. The government will probably use more personnel and spend more resources to attempt to close the ocean, than it would in its normal course of business.

Is the shutdown merely a diversion from getting the camps open? How’s the boxcar inventory?

If they've got money to pay people to be there to keep us out, then they can pay to keep it open.

This kind of fascist controlling BS makes me want to go find something closed and force my way into it.

In the article a Park Services ranger said they were told make life as difficult as possible for people. He wasn’t happy about it but I guess he is still doing it.

I work in Silicon Valley and have learned I’m usually outnumbered by wacko libs at work by 50:1. Yet this week I learned two guys I work with believe in small government and are deriding the closure of facilities as lunacy. Not sure which way they voted the past two elections, but their current beliefs sure surprised me. There may be hope yet.

I know your situation well. I am in Massachusetts and work in a town so moonbat that when I saw a Bush or Romney bumper sticker I almost took a photo of it! I too have heard some derision of the slimdown (particularly the refusal of Obama to negotiate). And when it becomes a punchline ("they were out of regular unleaded at the gas station; must be the government shutdown - ha!") it shows the public isn't taking it as seriously as the democrats are.
