On Thursday, the government's official Obamacare Facebook page was riddled with people expressing sticker shock over the government's high cost premiums after struggling for hours to wade through the technical failures vexing Obamacare exchanges all across the country.
"I am so disappointed," wrote one woman. "These prices are outrageous and there are huge deductibles. No one can afford this!" The comment received 169 "likes."
"There is NO WAY I can afford it," said one commenter after using the Kaiser Subsidy Calculator. "Heck right now I couldn't afford an extra 10$ [sic] a month...and oh apparently I make to [sic] much at 8.55/hour to get subsidies."

The GOP should keep repeating what Obama said. Obama said if you like your doctor and health plan you could keep it. Obama also said that healthcare premiums would drop $2500 for an average family.
As Obamacare takes root, many will see that this is a costly bureaucratic system, and a system which does not benefit them. Against this backdrop, Obama is decreeing Congress and other favored parties get waivers. Only the average citizen has to foot the bill.
The cost is too high! The only option is single payer health insurance, but it will cost the same. And, since no good jobs are around and you are totally dependent on the government, we are opening government housing for the masses. Walls will enclose the housing complexes, but citizens will be free to roam within the walls. Everyone will be happy with their daily ration of “soma” and soylent green. How could anyone reject such a wonderful future? Of course we in the government will make sacrifices and live outside the compounds, existing only on natural foods and the hard work of subjects - I mean fellow citizens.
And you know what? hussein doesn’t give a damn.
Dear Leslie: elections have consequences, you nitwit.
And there won't be any doctors to treat you. They're all going to move to Costa Rica.
1. I sign on to either a state or federal exchange on December 31st, 2013 and hopefully before New Years Eve is over, I have successfully enrolled in Obamacare.
2. Beginning in January, 2014 I will send in a monthly premium determined by the type of plan I have selected ..anywhere from $195.00 to $1400.00.
3. Then, every time I receive healthcare I will pay an out of pocket expense (a deductible) up to between $3000.00 and $8,000.00 each year.
4. Once I reach the deductible for that year, I only have to make a copay amount that could be between $10.00 and 200.00.
5. Now the good news. Lets assume I am eligible for some subsidies. To receive those subsidies I will only have to wait until I file my federal or state income tax during the first three months of 2015.
Please feel free to add to or correct this process if you feel dont have it quite right. My only disclaimer is the dollar amounts are for illustrative purposes only and the real amounts will vary based on the type of plan you select and individual demographic factors.
If you know what your numbers will be, you might want to post on it FR along with some of your demographics and then send it to your 2 senators and representative.
Harry Reid is a one man Death Panel and he looks the part.
I think you are allowed to estimate your pay and therefore subsidy each month because one of the warnings was that if your pay increased during the year (and therefore subsidy dropped) you would be expected to repay the difference with your taxes.
“Pound away at the: deductibles & out-of-pocket...”
And, dental and vision.
Many current plans have provisions for those. Usually not much, but every little bit helps with teeth and eyes.
That's the plan!
Once enough people complain about the cost/deductible, the Dems will try to force through Congress a bill to subsidize the whole thing ("It's for the children!!").
Standard Dem modus operandi: start something, claim a low price cost to implement it, make it an entitlement (no can touch!), then force the gub'mint to pay for the whole thing (or as much as they can force through at a time).
It was never about the turnips. It was always about their blood.
I will never forgive people that voted for this punk. NEVER!
I would assume if anyone still has a job it will be automatically deducted from their paycheck.
How can it be *we* knew about it, and none of them did? Are they that willfully ignorant?
Yearly deductibles of around $5000 before any coverage kicks in, and co-pays from 10% - 40% after that for covered services.
The lowest priced plan, bronze, has a $5000 deductible and co-pays of 40%!
It might only cost a 27 yr old $130 a month, but they couldn’t afford to use it!
What would it cost that person for a $10,000 broken leg?
$130 x 12 months = $1560
yearly deductible $5000
Total $6560
But you can’t forget the 40% co-pay on your share of the remaining $5000 on the bill after you paid your $5000 yearly deductible.
That is another $2000 for a grand total of $8560 on that $10,000 doctor bill.
Since chances are you won’t be breaking a leg every year, one would have to be a dimwit to buy that insurance.
We told you so!
If it is going to be automatically deducted it will have less impact than having to write a check. I hope employers itemize it in bold caps on the pay stub.
You could be right. More chance of fraud. But what does obama or the democrats care.
