Robinson: Latest report reinforces urgency about climate change
The Columbian ^ | October 4, 2013 | By Eugene Robinson

Posted on 10/04/2013 7:04:27 AM PDT by Oldeconomybuyer

Skeptics and deniers can make all the noise they want, but a landmark new report is unequivocal: There is a 95 percent chance that human-generated emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases are changing the climate in ways that court disaster.

Atmospheric science is difficult because there are so many variables involved. But, the infamous "hockey stick" graph showing global temperatures rising over time, first slowly and then sharply, remains valid.

Sea levels will continue to rise because of warming — water expands as it heats — and because of glacial melting.

"A large fraction of anthropogenic climate change resulting from CO2 emissions is irreversible on a multicentury to millennial time scale," the IPCC says. In other words, this is the world we have made. Get used to it.

But it is within our power to adapt to climate change and keep it from getting much worse. The first step in Carbonoholics Anonymous is admitting we have a problem.

"In other words, this is the world we have made. Get used to it."

God had nothing to do with it, and the only way to reverse catastrophe is to adopt radical Marxist ideals. Gene is nuts.

The only ‘urgency’ is getting their agenda accomplished before even more people find out what a fraud they are

Based on other articles and opinion pieces he’s written, it now can be confirmed that he is a well rounded didiot. Well versed in stupidity on many subjects.

“But, the infamous “hockey stick” graph showing global temperatures rising over time, first slowly and then sharply, remains valid. “

Lies.

Mann’s “hockey stick” has been conclusively refuted and debunked.

As long as that and other similar spurious data are included in any analysis of climate, the resulting conclusions will be false.

It’s obvious that once again we have a collection of “journalists” that flunked high school algebra.

Please, please, “The Columbian” staff, leave grownup things to grownups.

You are beyond stupid.

There are N reasons why that UN report is as full of excrement as an Obama speech, where N is a very large number.

And you obviously would not understand even one of them.

But, the infamous "hockey stick" graph... remains valid

Which puts forward the presumption that they were valid to begin with. Now where is that raw data and the simulations used to create the hockey stick? Oh, the dog ate it... because of global warming. Dogs don't eat scientific data in cool weather.

In my opinion, this article has no value and doesn’t belong on this forum.

Translation: we are scientists and you are not so you have to believe us. No skeptics allowed.

Keep in mind too that this is targeted at Americans and of course not the elite who individually consume more energy than a small city.

The rest look at it as a way to tax Americans.

Why do journalists think they’re scientists?

95% certain. Are you sure its not 95.1%? Or 95.143%?

Because the report says so. And the report must be true because of a consensus. Science by popular vote, right? Science and democracy are both good, so combined they should be even better?

So lets go back and throw out ALL scientific discoveries which violated the consensus of their time?

So much for that moron Galileo. And that idiot Copernicus.
What are germs, right? Light is particles, and bleeding will let the poison out.

Because consensus is the final authority.

“The only ‘urgency’ is getting their agenda accomplished before even more people find out what a fraud they are.”

Exactly. They are absolutely in a panic to get all their regulatory, taxation and bureaucratic machinery in place before the next cold cycle, which has actually already begun.

These “climate change” fanatics still cling to their damn hockey stick. They never did, or could, address things like the Interglacial Period or the Medieval Warm Period. Go back 70,000 years, and where I sit right now was under a mile thick sheet of ice. Explain why it’s gone.

I stopped reading at “Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change”

As far as I am concerned, that organization has less than zero credibility on climate issues.
