A female student at Canyon High School in Anaheim Hills was ordered to change out of her t-shirt because it promoted the NRA.
According to CBS Los Angeles, Haley Bullwinkle said she was sent to the principal's office in September "for violating the school's dress code that forbids offensive, violent, or divisive clothing."
The "offensive" shirt was a gift from Bullwinkle's father, which he gave her after he became a member of the NRA.
The shirt "shows a buck, an American flag, and a hunter's silhouette." Under this is inscribed: "National Rifle Association of America: Protecting America's Traditions Since 1871."
When Bullwinkle's father contacted school principal Kimberly Fricker for an explanation, she told him the shirt violated code because it had an image of a gun on it. In response, Bullwinkle's father has retained an attorney, citing the fact that the drill team twirls fake guns in their performances.

I worked for a Fortune 500 company. I was lectured by my boss, a VP, about a conversation I’d had in the cafeteria with an employee about concealed carry. It was overheard by the HR manager who was “offended.” I wasn’t written up because you simply don’t write people up at my level. Since I started the conversation they didn’t write up the tech (who machined his own guns.) I was told to watch not only my offensive speech but to be careful who overheard anything I said. And, per policy, offense is in the eye of the offended. (It was the worst place I’ve worked as there were almost no personal conversations at all and almost nobody socialized after work or on weekends. It simply wasn’t safe to do so.)
I knew a family named Bullwinkel, back in the 70s. “Winkel” means “shop” in Dutch.

I understand that before I got there they told the employees that there would be no mention of religion on site. No “have a blessed day,” no “god be with you.” While I was there I noticed many employees had the praying hands or biblical posters, but not one word was said in my hearing.

You take that ‘tack’ so as not to get in trouble and YOU apparently are high enough up that some fool will eventually ‘charge’ you with creating a hostile work environment because you (purposely) DON’T ‘chat anyone up’.

one of the ‘ladies’ in the office had complained about someone ‘teasing’ them...I actually worked in the field but spent enough time (officially) in the office and just wouldn’t say anything outside of Official Business and only respond with good morning if spoken to first.... The old lesson ‘learned’ early in life - Only speak when spoken to.
You guessed it, I was referred to as that ‘Nasty SOB’ who never talked to anyone....
If only I had ‘known’, I should have sued for that ‘label’ etc etc etc...(except I was (or pretended to be) a ‘Nasty SOB’)

These people are deadly serious. There’s no such thing as “fun.” They can’t see absurdity. They can live with huge cognitive dissonance. If you want your job you play the game. Several people have said things along the lines of, “I mean nothing to this place and this place means nothing to me. I make money here and live at home.” It’s really a rather hostile attitude, but it’s adopted in self defense.
