DC attacker was a single mom with ‘every reason to live’
“She had everything going for her,” said Yolanda Napoleon, 40. “A beautiful baby, a man helping her with her baby, a job making 100k per year. Her child was her everything.”
Carey, 34, was a dental hygienist who was licensed in both New York and Connecticut. She lived in Brooklyn as recently as 2005 and had a condo in Stamford, Conn.
Friends, who grew up with her and her four sisters on Stanley Avenue in Brooklyn, were mystified about how Carey’s life came to end in a fiery confrontation with several police and Secret Service agents in the shadow of the US Capitol on Thursday. They said Carey had never been in trouble before and had been working at her current job for five years
Tazzy Wright, another friend and former neighbor of Carey’s, said they had just gone on a vacation together.
“We all just went on a cruise together to the Bahamas. Her job took her. That’s how good a worker she was,” Wright, 30, said. “She seemed perfectly fine. There was nothing wrong with Miriam.”
“We used to go to school together. I’ve known her her whole life,” said another friend, Donald Knowles, 33. He said he had seen Carey on Wednesday in the Stanley Avenue apartment she grew up in. “She’s a sweetheart,” he said.
But one neighbor said, “It was clear there was mental health issues in the family.”

Know this one is difficult but is whereabouts of father possible after pinning down name? Need some criminal reports, if they exist also.
Thank You! Looks like the mental health issue may rule this day on causes. Not certain because there are plenty of angles to pursue but most of those angles maybe will be kept hidden. Wonder if there is any family down toward the Bahamas?

This is just crazy! I can’t help but feel sorry for her. Wonder how she got the first head injury a few years ago? Then to be shot in the head and killed a few years later! Too much serendipity with that. Sad.
I agree, it would be more humane for everyone to get questionable people locked up or committed to mental institutions. People need to be protected from themselves, even this one local talk show host says 1/3rd at least of the homeless are there because of mental problems.
I swear when you watch that video I said out loud “it looks like someone in the passenger seat”. Now, it could’ve been a very high head rest but to me it looked like someone was in the seat.
Saw or read where there was a fall down a flight of steps (perhaps was SE Mom's article a ways back) and then during examination was determined she was pregnant.
Did I get all that info correct, Mom?
Whatever really happened here one thing is for sure- the police aren’t doing anything to help themselves in terms of PR.
No news conference tonight? Never released her name? No answers. A lot of ugly questions all over the internet wondering if the cops overreacted. Not a good situation.
Would be interesting to get father’s name off the baby’s birth register. I am sure some reporters are on that now. They would be incurious fools not to be. Well educated woman driving around DC with a baby in car like a bat out of hell trying to get into WH? In that Chicago thug Peyton Place?
If not terror connected....then my suspicion would be she knows someone there..maybe the baby’s daddy. She is pissed and wants to see them. The whole thing got out of hand because the cops went nuts when calls of an officer hurt(in car wreck) went out. Of course the story will be that she was just crazy...but she held down a job!! Number one suspicion now is that the baby’s daddy works in the WH or Treasury Department. Just a hunch.

It was crazy! From what has been pieced together so far, it does look like the cops over reacted...big time! I can understand in today’s age, but they are supposed to be trained better than that. I see these kinds of chases all the time and they don’t end up being shot like that. Sometimes they even back off a chase to let the driver calm down and follow with helicopters.
They had to know she had a baby in car too. They saw it before she took off and right before she was shot out of sight of footage from Al Hurrah. Perhaps they thought they had to save the child by shooting the mom which could be understandable. But then that doesn’t make sense because every window in car was blown out! Doesn’t look like they were that worried about the baby in car. Who knows.

Once you open the door for the above, you will eventually be deemed "questionable" for being a member of FR. Be careful. You just might get what you wish for.
We do know the car was not leased, if report is correct, therefore they probably had a name and photo within the time frame of events. Am speculating ... truth is, I do not know.
