My sons are in DC. I hope they go help out. I took them there when they were very young and again when they were older.

A great media even that DEFINES thus slim down.

VOLUNTEERS could be manning these public places. Recruit the Boy Scouts to volunteer for one.

If this is all the media can come up with that the feds are doing with HALF of our income every year, shut it down and keep it down!

This is the best thing to happen in some time.

It’s time for people to fight back and to take back what’s theirs.

And it’s only fitting that these men, men who saved our Republic from a great peril long ago, are showing us the way again.

These men and women are STILL making history. Wheelchairs, walkers and all.

Now that’s something.

From Pearl Harbor to the National Mall.
From Saigon to Now.

From storming the beaches, to storming the Barry-cades.

They’ve already done their duty to America, and yet here they are once again. Because Generation X and the Millennials won’t.

"We might have to climb or something. It's no problem. We[']ll work it out when we get there."

Most of these guys are pushing 90. At the very youngest (sneaked in at 16 in '45) some of them are 84. Their ethos to "figure it out" gives testament to why they are popularly labeled as the "Greatest Generation."

Soon, they will all be gone. And we'll be left with a youth that has no sense of self sacrifice or work ethic, which pales in comparison to the men that are breaking down goobermunt barriers in the same way they defeated the fascist empires of Germany, Italy, Japan, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary. Rather than cry to mama goobermunt when these men face a challenge equivocal to "what do we do," they respond with "we'll figure it out."

Their riposte in combination with their stiff resolve is truly inspiring, yet truly frightening when foresight is considered.

New wave of WWII veterans move barricades to access DC memorial
~~~~~~~~
Another version:
WWII memorial opened to vets
The National Park Service opened the World War II Memorial Wednesday to veterans visiting from around the country.
Carol Johnson, a National Parks Service spokeswoman, said the veterans' groups had been granted access Wednesday because it was deemed a first amendment demonstration.
The memorial was still closed to the public, however, and Johnson said other war memorials on the National Mall would also be closed.
But veterans could be seen visiting the Vietnam War Memorial about a half-mile away.
The memorials were closed and barricaded because of the government shutdown that began Tuesday.
Veterans arriving at the World War II memorial Tuesday encountered barriers, which were moved at some point so that they could enter the memorial. It’s not clear if they were moved by the park service or lawmakers who were present.
On Wednesday, hundreds of people visited the World War II Memorial to protest its closure. Lawmakers from both parties were also present with visiting veterans.
The memorial is generally open 24 hours.
With the government shut down, however, barricades were posted Tuesday morning. The park service explained that the memorials were closed and that the Park Service would not have people on hand in case someone was injured while visiting a memorial.
The barricades are moved. Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) said he believed the Park Service opened the gates. Rep. Bill Huizenga (R-Mich.) said the congressmen did it. Rep. Steven M. Palazzo (R-Miss.) said the barricades just seemed to part. WashPo
