Boehner released this statement today:

Alien abduction...
I know Speaker Boehner gets a lot of grief here, and rightly so. However, he COULD pass the Senate’s version with Democrat and a handful of Republican votes. I think I read somewhere he only needs 16 Republican sellouts to do so (he has them).
Boehner likely knows his job is on the line. Regardless of his motives, he’s doing the right thing. Stand firm, Mr. Speaker. You were sent to Congress not to affirm Obama’s agenda but to stop it. Keep doing the right things, and we’ll have your back!
Serve your country and get stabbed in the back by Democrats.
Is Arlington National Cemetery closed as well as all other national cemeteries?
......whatever, you may be right - but I’ll take it....... Maybe the abduction is permanent. (yes I know, too much to ax)
Isn’t Dingy Reid threatening to not send out disability checks to veterans?
Agreed - you don’t have to like Boehner nor trust him in the future to acknowledge when he stumbles onto something good once in a blue moon. Enjoy the blue moon while we have it!
I read on another thread that Arlington is a military reposibilty. I’d love to see them try to stop the WWII vets storming the Barrykades from visiting fallen brothers in arms at Arlington.
Boehner has already announced that he plans to retire and not be Speaker in the next session, so maybe he’s finally decided just to do the right thing.
D’oh!
Reposibilty = responsibility.
Hopefully, he decides he likes having balls. I doubt it, though. Willing to be pleasantly surprised.
If a large group of Muslim Brotherhood people came to Washington now and wanted to see the national monuments, Obama would be there giving them a private tour.
I’m glad he’s using this.
One thing he should ask is why the government couldn’t keep the monument open but could hire all these people with forklifts to put up barricades.
Btw, it’s an open air monument, it was privately paid for, there is no attendant or ranger there, and all they ever do is open the grounds for people to come in.
So the WH actually DID have the money to close it but not to open it?
Somebody loaned Tammy Faye a spine. About time.
Gov’t Golf Courses on air bases are still open.
I like that. A shot at Obama and what we call a backhanded compliment to Billy Jeff. Well done, Boehner.
Because it was the petty action of a tyrant who knows older vets despise him, while he considers them to be ‘neo-colonialists’ pawns’?
There’s no other reason for it to be closed like this.
Nice.
Obama and Reid thought it was going to make average Americans blame the GOP - rather than blame Obama’s refusal to negotiate in a democratic form (this from a guy who “negotiates” our future away with the Iranians and all of our enemies).
