A series of leaked emails from House Speaker John Boehner’s chief of staff, Mike Sommers, show that the Speaker may have coordinated with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) to exempt Congress from Obamacare.
The emails were leaked Tuesday by David Krone, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s chief of staff, who actually has a history of this sort of thing.
The leaks, which are a major taboo in Washington, show Rep. Boehner (R-Ohio) worked behind the scenes earlier this year to address confusion over a provision in the Affordable Care Act that would force members of Congress and their aides into the exchanges. In fact, if one were to go by the leaks, which were first given to Politico, it appears that the offices of Boehner and Reid regularly coordinated to exempt Congress from the health care law.
But given that the Speaker is now apparently against congressional Obamacare exemptions, the emails make him look inconsistent and hypocritical – which may have been the point of their leaking.

The problem is that he was using the power of his office to help himself rather than those he represents.
Reid exposed the negotiations to further fuel the flames if division. Reid doesn’t think he has to worry about his standing. All our sure has to do is to ignore this—for now.

Michael Grimm said on CNN Wednesday. “There’s no such thing as a nonessential employee. I started in the government as a GS-5 making 30 something thousand dollars a year. I’d hate to think that what I did for the government wasn’t essential. So, I want to say to all those people, you are essential to me. If anyone is not essential, it’s the U.S. Congress.”
Grimm said he hoped to form a coalition with other House Republicans, including New York Rep. Peter King, who blasted tea party members for the shutdown.
“You have 40 Ted Cruz Republicans in the House running national policy,” King told the Washington Post. The “Ted Cruz element,” as he called them, are living “in their own echo chamber.”
“Obviously everyone knows we have a far right faction that we have to deal with and we have to unify,” Grimm said. “That is why I think we’ll need a coalition of members to finally say, listen, the most important thing here are those people that aren’t going to work today, that have bills to pay, that can barely make ends meet. Those that have small children. They don’t know what to tell them. That’s what’s important to the American people, not our egos, not our poll numbers. All of that is completely irrelevant.”

I wonder if these kinds of things, in writing by Bohner, may be the reason the Speaker refuses to appoint a select committee on Benghazi, Fast and Furious, and all of the other scandals. They have Bohner by the balls because while he claims to be conservative he is owned by the dems.

These people work for us, the “people.” These emails should be public domain and readily accessible. So what is up with the “leak,” and why do they think that these are confidential emails? Do they think that we are that stupid? All of us? Really? This is totally manufactured by Reid, and shows just how stupid and clueless the House leadership is.

You do get the government you deserve. Not us, per se, but the nation as a whole. As the nation’s electorate becomes collectively more ignorant and immoral, you are seeing the result.
As long as you bow to Mormons and believe the PR and do what they want...they are really nice. Counter them, point out contradictions or illogic and they turn nasty really quick. It has a lot to do with their god complex that is part of their theology.

Agreed. I don't see how this helps Reid or the Dem cause.
There are few things more despicable than breaking another man's confidence, and especially by publicizing his private mail.
Of course despicableness is Reid's (and Obama's) stock in trade but there are a good many people, even in Congress and the press, who will pause over this one.
Chief among them is Boehner who now truly has nothing left to lose. He has publicly been given good reason to bring the whole mess down.

(WASHINGTON POST) — Rep. Michael Grimm’s R-N.Y. office tells Post Politics that he would vote for a so-called “clean” continuing resolution, and Rep. Rob Wittman’s R-Va. office is telling constituents that he would also support a clean bill.
“I voted to avoid a government shutdown at every opportunity, to continue government funding, and although I have not had an opportunity to do so to this point, I would support a ‘clean’ Continuing Resolution to get our government back up and running,” Wittman told a constituent in an e-mail shared with Post Politics
