A New York City man who was out driving Sunday celebrating his first wedding anniversary with his wife and 2-year-old daughter was brutally beaten by members of a motorcycle gang in front of his horrified family after a high-speed chase.
Police said Tuesday morning it remains unclear what caused the confrontation that led to the assault on Alexian Lien. Lien, 33, was left bloodied and had to be hospitalized. But investigators are studying a 6-minute helmet-cam video that shows part of the chase and cuts off just before Lien is pulled out of his luxury SUV and beaten by the mob, The New York Post reported.
NYPD confirmed that there has been one arrest. Christopher Cruz, 28, was charged with reckless endangerment, menacing, reckless driving and acting in a manner injurious to a child less than 17.
Liens first encounter with the bikers shows a group of them taking off their helmets and denting the side of Liens SUV, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly told The Post. A few other riders slashed the tires. Lien apparently panicked and stepped on the gas. He was surrounded at the time and slammed into a few of the riders, the report said.

“The facts are not in. How about the fact that a biker was apparently paralyzed by Lien prior to his arse-whooping?”
I hope it’s true and his d*** never works again.
Pretty sure these thugs don’t work. I’m sure welfare and criminal activity probably paid for those bikes. It’s a shame one thug is paralyzed. /s
“It looks first that the bikers were trying to cause trouble, cutting off the SUV and hitting the brakes. When he got hit, they started the assault.”
I understand they slow other traffic down on purpose to give their buddies ahead an open road for stunts. I doubt anyone in the NYC metro area has any sympathy for the bikers in any case; they are a menace on already-overcrowded roads here (and race would not be the primary consideration in this race-obsessed part of the country). Motorcycles are more of an open-road thing. We hear them at night on nearby highways, and a cop pointed out a dent in a metal light pole caused by one rider’s helmet (he was DOA).
The video only starts when the bikers try to stop the SUV.
“You have a pack of bikers that for some reason decide to block this SUV.”
And herein is the open question: why? What happened prior? Did Lien try to run the bikers off the road first? Did he purposefully damage a bike out of spite and the bikers were trying to corral him until the police arrived? Do you know FOR SURE? I don’t, so I’m staying mum.
(BTW, that doesn’t necessarily excuse their actions, but I don’t know the full facts, so in the interest of NOT acting like the press in regards to George Zimmerman, I think I’ll just wait. Apparently some people didn’t learn from that case.)
If I was sitting on a jury, the SUV driver walks. Fortunately, for the victim, his attackers filmed the whole thing and put it on You Tube.
Because the thought they were gangsta rappers. Why do you side with them?
There is a bunch more video posted in liveleak that was prior to the incident. These guys were being total asshats running wild all over the streets. I beleive the biker who made contact with the SUV was trying to block traffic so his buddies could come pouring through and it all went bad after that.

As a biker do you also ride in the same lane with cars right next to the driver before cutting them off?
“...but I dont know the full facts, ...
Some of the facts:
Bikers riding on sidewalks
Bikers doing wheelies in traffic
Bikers whitelining OPPOSING traffic
Bikers without tags
Bikers riding in same lane alongside cars
Here’s the rest of the video posted by the motorcycle gang:
