A group of World War II veterans in an Honor Flight group Tuesday knocked over barriers imposed during the government shutdown at the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C., to get inside.
As part of the federal government shutdown, national parks are closed. But the group of veterans continued to the monument Tuesday, as reported by Stars and Stripes reporter Leo Shane.

I just can't help but feel it these guys were in their prime they would be doing something. It's so frustrating just to stare through the window and see what is happening to our country and our elected representatives do nothing to fight it.

I almost jumped out of my chair and cheered, while at work, just reading the headline. GO VETS.

Could get exciting if cops or park rangers attempt to evict them... No politician, even Obama, would be so stupid as to give that order. Not in an era where everyone can take cell phone videos.
And if the order was given, I'd hope that the police would be mighty slow in enforcing it. These are WW II vets, not Occupy Wall Street hippies.
If I were a cop there, I'd suddenly have a tummy ache and have to go home. Use up a sick day, and all that.

If our governments property truly belongs to the people, what right does the ObamaNation have to keep the people from their property?
These VETs have shown the way for “The People” to access their property.

My hubby and his 90 yo dad were part of a GA Honor Flight last Wednesday. The itinerary was:
1)Depart Conyers, GA for DC at 4:00 a.m. with 27 WWII vets, 27 companion/helpers, and 5 Honor Flight reps
2)WWII Memorial
3)Arlington Cemetery/Tomb of the Unknown/Iwo Jima Memorial
4)Lincoln/Korea/Vietnam Memorials
5)Depart DC/arrive home at 10:00 p.m.
Each vet is issued a wheel chair which his attendant must push along with vet aboard or not. The vet’s expenses are fully paid through donations, but the companion pays $400. Most companions are family, but some good people volunteer their time and money so no vet will miss out because of finances. I hope the Mississipi vets get to complete their itinerary and not just visit the WWII site.

Its funny how the government can have 3 police to shut the park down..but can´t have 3 police to keep it open....this is just Obamas way of sticking it to the Republicans by saying they shut down all the national parks.....stupid....I hope this goes on for a long time ..then the public can find out that they CAN LIVE without all the Federal government they had....lots of waste there...40-50% I think...one guy could maintain this park......

Look at that one on the right - typical Smokey Bear hatted Parkie awaiting orders from his Herr Oberbahnsturmfuhrer in the middle of the pic.
And the bigshots got gunzzzzz! Oooooooo!!
