A group of World War II veterans in an Honor Flight group Tuesday knocked over barriers imposed during the government shutdown at the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C., to get inside.
As part of the federal government shutdown, national parks are closed. But the group of veterans continued to the monument Tuesday, as reported by Stars and Stripes reporter Leo Shane.
Good for the vets!
Shutting down things like Memorials that require NO WORK to keep open is just Obastard’s Kubuki Theater. Nothing that effects HIM will be shut down, of course. Sure he’ll still get plenty of golf in and go on plenty of $1M+ per day trips, as will Sasquatch...
Good for them.Who the hell does this Socialist President think he is?Denying our veterans the right to visit a national memorial.A memorial that probably wouldn’t exist If not for their service.
All I can say is I. Bet. These Vets are furious knowing how this country is slowly heading toward a dictatorship.
Occupy!!!!! Like they did in Germany!
Suck on THAT, dirtbags!
Ridiculous - why would you close a monument other than trying to make the GOP look bad? Might as well fire the people who closed it and leave it open permanently.
That’s what they fought and died for,FREEDOM!!GOD Bless Every One Of Them!!What we have today isn’t what they fought to preserve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They own the Memorial. They should see it.
Insurrections have started more quietly and low key than this........maybe this is ours.
That’s what I don’t understand! How do you close something that is, by its very nature, open? The stupidity of our government.
I guess the other memorials are shuttered (figuratively) too.
“...this country is slowly heading toward a dictatorship.”
Slowly? Breakneck speed, my FRiend.
You're right - God Love em'! and God Bless 'em....
Media narrative:
The Occupy Wall Street protestors were patriots who were earning the right to be heard via their brave stand against corporate tyranny, even though they often camped on private property, at tremendous expense to City and State governments.
The WWII vets are mean-spirited and self-important, putting the public’s safety at risk during their brazen, lawless trepass onto government property.
The world is completely inside out.
They should have been singing we will overcome ;-)
Let’s see, the Park Service spent money to put up barriers because they were not allowed to spend money.
