The Senate voted Monday afternoon to kill House Republicans latest stopgap spending offer, holding firm in their demand that Congress continue to fund Obamacare as part of any government-funding debate.
The 54-46 vote officially tabled both proposals the House GOP passed early Sunday morning, one of which would have funded the government while delaying the health law for a year, and the other of which would have repealed one of the Affordable Care Acts tax increases.

Exactly. Let the Dims make enemies of each voting block one by one.
Why is a budget for next year so crucial today? I am under the impression the government has been running without a senate approved budget for the past few years.
Yes...I'm sure. We (as do most parts of the government) operate on a yearly budget. What you are thinking of IS the CR. When we are under a CR we can operate at 80% of the previous year budget. We have to have a CR at least to have the funding. Now, military operations will continue and the nuts and bolts of how it can without violating the Anti-Deficiency Act, I have no idea.
I do, however, know short of some appropriations bill or CR we won't get checks. I've seen the guidance from the OPM. I have heard the senate signed the house passed bill for funding DoD...but only heard it on Hannity and haven't seen it anywhere else.
I was thinking about you just a bit ago when I heard that on Hannity too. Well, I hope you all get paid (it’s a shame you have to worry about this at all).
It seems odd that the military isn’t funded as a necessary/essential part of the government (one of the few things the fed gov should have their hands in is defense of the country). Why they are lax on this is beyond me.
bye the bye, I also heard Hannity take credit for coming up with the idea to send separate funding bills to the senate for everything making them vote up or down on each one.
Funny, first mention I heard of that was here on FR from JimRob.
HISTORY: desperation to survive usually spawns ingenuity and commitment. Anyone paying attention knows that Americans are pissed off and it won't be easy but a nation wide strike, prolonged if necessary, might get their attention. I doubt the government can kill us all, at least not until they lock us up in the FEMA camps. We'll see.
Welcome to the world of the self employed Nelson. It’s tough to quit living paycheck to paycheck cold turkey. Thank you for your service.
Dem bastards. With them its their way or the highway. But Republicans are always expected to give in.
Sick of this sh!t
so a bill said that the Govt will not shut down and will be funded and socialist health care will be delayed for one year and still the Dems want o shut Govt down and to the media it’s the republicans fault, what a screwed up media and country we have.
Americans deserve a 1-year waiver at the very least as opposed to permanent waivers for Obama's special interests.
Reid , bozo and their pals never passed a budget, they are given a bill which will fund the Govt only if they delay, yes just delay obamacare and still they want Govt shut down and blame it on us!!!
I am hoping this can be used to attract more Americans to the conservative moment rather than drive them away. How can this Congressional be fighting be used as a tool in order to get more moderate and apathetic Americans to see the light and see the dangers they are in with the rapidly bloating government? I just want to make sure ordinary Americans are understanding what needs to be understood here, and for the Tea Party to gain, not lose members as a result of this.
