Obamacare's average monthly cost across U.S.: $328

Americans will pay an average premium of $328 monthly for a mid-tier health insurance plan when the Obamacare health exchanges open for enrollment next week, and most will qualify for government subsidies to lower that price, the federal government said on Wednesday.

The figure, based on data for approved insurance plans in 48 states, is the broadest national estimate for the cost of coverage when President Barack Obama's healthcare reform law takes full effect next year. The prices of the new plans are at the heart of a political debate over whether they will be affordable enough to attract millions of uninsured Americans when enrollment begins on October 1.

Obama, who is facing a Republican threat to eliminate funding for the law or shut down the federal government next week, said the fierce opposition stems from the fear that Americans will embrace the program.

"Essentially they're saying people will like this thing too much, and then it will be really hard to roll back," Obama said on Tuesday in a conversation about healthcare with former President Bill Clinton. "What we're saying is, just look for yourself. Take a look at it, and you will discover that this is a good deal for you."

The Obama administration is counting on signing up 7 million Americans, including 2.7 million younger and healthier consumers who are needed to offset the costs of sicker members, in the first full year of reform through the state exchanges.

On top of all that, I keep hearing about the "out of pocket expense cap" that has something to do with people paying for services up to a certain point before the health care plan kicks in.

I can't find specificity about this. It sounds like a deductible clause that accumulates as it goes, but it might be something sinister that still leaves the deductible hanging out there.

The lower/no income people will still be on Medicaid and it will still be free for them. Just like now. Except there will be more of them since ‘insurance’ is required now. That is why they were forcing the states to expand Medicaid.

Well then that’s simple. Just don’t pay your electric bill til you get a shut off notice and you are exempt. The whole country should do it.

Then after your visit and racking up $20,000 in bills, just drop the insurance.

I gathered that reading subsequent posts. My anger if palpable with this. I won't do it, I will leave the country. (for the third time). I will go live in Sweden. At least if I am going to live in a welfare state, I will get some of the perks. A low key, low stress way of life where I can take a week off if I have so much as a headache. (:

I don't think Americans have a clue what is going to hit them. Let me rephrase that the group of Americans Obama hates. People that work, have amassed a little wealth and comfort, take care of their children, etc. I don't think they have a clue what is coming.

I just moved back to AZ last year. I knew this shit storm was coming (this, the EPA, etc, etc) so we massively downsized. We bought a modest, smaller home. No debt --

But all around me the McMansions are going up like hot cakes. 4-5000 sq ft houses. There is no way these people have a clue what is coming their way.

Medical bill sharing ministries are restricted to Christians abiding by their terms, such as not covering out of wedlock pregnancies, and get the same exemption as the Amish.

Medi-share

Samaritan Ministries International

Christian Healthcare Ministries

Unfortunately, Obamacare doesn’t recognize any ministries set up after 1999, so no new ones could be set up.

Are you then saying to wait until you qualify for Medicare and buy a supplement that will cover it all?

There’s a lady I work with who turns 65 next Aug. 2014... She asked me if she should just wait.. I couldn’t answer that one...because I understand everyone has to be signed up for something by March of 2014, five months before she’ can get Medicare or what ever it’s called.. But maybe that’s what she should do.

Wonder if there’’s a grace period for people who might be turning 65 in 2014??? Hummm.

That’s interesting because alot of the main Inusrance companies are leaving states...and many of the “New” Insurance Companies handling Obamacare have not been tested or tied.....so the public will be choosing from outfits that have no history.

What they don’t say is on mid tier plans your deductible is 2500+ and a lot of things won’t be covered.

Plus the IRS is running it!

FNC reported they were more than what is going on now.

IOW if 2500 it will be 5000.

in essence, the same as not having insurance.
