MANILA » A deadly three-week standoff between government troops and Muslim rebels who held nearly 200 people hostage in the southern Philippines has ended with all of the remaining captives safe, officials said Saturday
More than 200 people were killed in the clashes, including 183 rebels, 23 soldiers and police, and 12 civilians. It was in one of the bloodiest and longest-running attacks by a Muslim group in the southern Philippines, the scene of a decades-long Muslim rebellion for self-rule in the largely Roman Catholic country.
Gazmin said 195 hostages had either been rescued, managed to escape or were freed. It was unclear whether any of the 12 civilians killed in the standoff were hostages.
The faction's leader, Nur Misuari, has not surfaced since the siege began, but will be prosecuted along with 292 captured guerrillas for rebellion and violating international humanitarian laws that forbid the taking civilians hostage for use as human shields.
Military spokesman Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala said the estimated $7 million that was spent by the armed forces to contain the rebel threat proved that the government will do everything to protect the country's sovereignty.
"These rebels dared to challenge our very sovereignty by raising their flag," Zagala said. "We'll never allow that to happen at any cost."

183 rebels a good start
There is but one way to stop Muslim atrocities, and that is to cull them back to where they seek peace.
Muslims are peaceful when their numbers are few, but when they breed at 4 to one of us, and get our oil money from the Saudi’s and our foreign policy money and weapons from Obama, they become strong.
When they are strong they begin to read their death book literally and mean to kill us or enslave us.

Suspected Muslim rebels whom the military said were either captured or surrendered, arrived at a police station for processing in Zamboanga city, southern Philippines on Sept. 26.
The top of his skull is still in one piece. It should be all over the ground.
The only way the Phillipines will get peace is to remove the Muslims. they need to consider it.
I have in-laws who are Filipinos. I saw this for a week straight on TV patrol (it’s a really good news daily like CNN but they’re not as rotten as liberals) when I was away from the US for filming.
I feel really..really bad for those who those hundreds of thousands who are now living in tent cities because these ragheads started a war against the RP. Of course, this sh&t has been going even before Marcos. The MNLF should be the ones paying for the destroyed city of Zamboanga.
Sure is.
That guy almost looks like a loaner from the U. S.
“TV patrol”

TV Patrol is the nightly news program on the ABS-CBN network.
When my wife is watching TV, it is usually on ABS-CBN. It is not just a news channel. Most of our TV is, however, G-sat programing of American programs, History channel is the most watched for us.
That is my impression also. He does not look like a native Filipino.
Interesting that this rated zero coverage by the American MSM but the attacks in Kenya rated saturation coverage.
It’s not only the Zamboanga story that caught my attention. It’s also the Napoles story because the son of Napoles has a condo here in L.A. and I know some Fil’ friends of mine who told me this idiot kept buying expensive cars and showing it on his facebook account.
Philippine prisons are not nice places to say the least. I’d probably choose a supermax over it, if I had a choice.
Just a small start and it too far too long
To paraphrase Sgt. Muldoon- Arab Islamist, African Islamist, South Asian Islamist, South East Asian Islamist, South Pacific Islamist... No sir Mr. Beckworth
It doesn't take a crystal ball or a hit by one of their weapons to know that what's involved here is Islamist domination of the world.
Guy in the back has an M-14, a real weapon for when you want to kill bad guys dead fast.
