'A British man who offered himself as a hostage to save the lives of a group of children was today described by colleagues as a 'born leader'.
Mitul Shah, 38, a sales executive from London attempted to strike a deal with the terrorists, replacing children with himself, a heroic act which gave several victims vital time to escape.
The selfless father did not get through to the gunmen and was shot alongside a number of children in the Kenyan tragedy, leaving behind his wife and two-year-old daughter.
Today his employers, the cooking oil company Bidco Oil, and his work colleagues spoke of their grief at his loss.
The firm said in a statement: ‘He was a born leader and an inspiring soul loved by one and all.’
Mr Shah, who was born in April 1975 in North London, held dual British and Kenyan citizenship.'

Please note that this hero was a Hindu, not Muslim. Shah is a Hindu surname. This man was a Gujurati by descent.

The stories coming out about this make the event more and more tragic.
I have no interest in these tearjerker stories. They just piss me off. If just a handful of victims had been permitted by the Kenyan government to carry guns, no more than a dozen people would have been killed. That’s the real story of this mall carnage. It is the ultimate lesson of the price of gun control.

Actually, to be sure, both Hindus and Muslims have the surname Shah. This is one of those cases where it is difficult to tell simply by his name what religion he is. In any event, this is one of those cases where I don’t think his religion or ethnicity truly matters, unless someone is a special interest “activist” group that wants to exploit his heroics for his or her own ulterior motives.
He could only fervently appeal to the better natures of the terrorists. He was unarmed. Like the heroic teacher who died in the closet while trying to cover her students, wouldn’t it be even more heroic to die (or survive) while killing or trying to kill as many terrorists as possible, preferably with your own concealed weapon?
I am starting to think that hanging terrorists is too good for them. We should treat them like the demonic witches they are and burn them at the stake.
...On a different tangent. I had a debate with a liberal this week on gun control. He was telling me that more guns were not the answer, “Just look at all the guns at the Navy Yard and it did nothing the stop the massacre”. First, I disabused of him of the notion that there are a lot of guns on a military base (only a relative few have access to guns and ammo. It is basically a gun-free zone). Then, I told him the Navy Yard and the Kenya Mall attack are perfect examples of why ordinary citizens should be allowed to be armed. He replied that he did not think that the average military or civilian person had enough expertise to be armed...They would create more problems. Only qualified police should carry weapons in public. I replied when seconds count, the police are minutes away. I also told him that if a service member could not be trusted with a gun said service member should get a new profession. The points I made did not resonate with him. I am sure he would feel quite different if he were ever put in that situation. I sincerely hope he never has to find out.
Why?
It's my hope that all these dimbulbs have a chance to find out just how twisted their worldview is. And that's a very sincere hope.

I don’t think you really mean that. He’s not evil. He is just indoctrinated. I don’t wish hurt on anyone even if they are acting terminally stupid. It’s easy to get frustrated with people who are anti-gun, especially if they try to push their gun phobia on you with gun control laws.
Terrorists shooting innocents is a different matter.

Fair enough, he certainly showed the fighting spirit that Hindus have become very well known for in the past 1000 years, for example the Rajputs, the Marathas and the Gurkhas.

That requires these individuals to gain experience. These folks are not necessarily stupid or evil; they are merely terminally sheltered - they are childlike; naive and foolish.
A child learns that hot things are dangerous by touching them. Third party explanations don’t carry weight.
When you wind up with a majority population of inexperienced, foolish people, who knows - they might elect one of their own as President - and then wouldn’t we be in a fix!
It is not possible for it to be more heroic. If you're lucky, or a good shot, it might be more effective.

Mitul Shah is Hindu. The majority of people with this surname are Hindu, but there are a great many Muslims, including famous ones, who also carry it.

Watched an Indian movie where an Indian Muslim man marries a Hindu woman in America. Their little business is destroyed after 9/11 because the bigoted Americans refuse to do business with a Muslim anymore.
How do they know they’re Muslim? The family surname is Khan. As if most Americans would know that Khan is a Muslim surname.

Some liberals are consistently wrong. They know what they believe and have worked out their beliefs to their logical conclusions.
I can respect that. Honesty and integrity are to be encouraged, not in the least because somebody who honestly is seeking the truth can be reached with the truth. The best conservatives are former liberals who have seen the light and realized their errors.
But inconsistency such as what you are quoting here indicates that the person with whom you were talking either doesn't know what he is talking about (likely) or is letting his gun phobia blind him to facts.
