Earlier today, the United States Senate voted to fund Obamacare.
There were 25 Republicans who betrayed their principles and voted for cloture, giving Democrats the power to implement this terrible law.
This is a disappointing loss, but the bill now goes back to the House where Republicans must hold their ground and refuse to fund Obamacare.
Here are the 25 Senate Republicans who voted to allow Harry Reid (D-NV) and the Democrats to fund Obamacare today:
Alexander, Lamar (R-TN) Ayotte, Kelly (R-NH) Barrasso, John (R-WY) Blunt, Roy (R-MO) Boozman, John (R-AR) Burr, Richard (R-NC) Chambliss, Saxby (R-GA) Chiesa, Jeff (R-NJ) Coats, Dan (R-IN) Coburn, Tom (R-OK) Cochran, Thad (R-MS) Collins, Susan (R-ME) Corker, Bob (R-TN) Cornyn, John (R-TX) Graham, Lindsey (R-SC) Hoeven, John (R-ND) Isakson, Johnny (R-GA) Johanns, Mike (R-NE) Johnson, Ron (R-WI) Kirk, Mark (R-IL) McCain, John (R-AZ) McConnell, Mitch (R-KY) Murkowski, Lisa (R-AK) Thune, John (R-SD) Wicker, Roger (R-MS)
LEADING THE SURRENDER
There were a lot of people who worked against us in this fight, but nobody worked harder to fund Obamacare in the Senate thanMitch McConnell (R-KY), the Republican Leader.
Mitch McConnell pressured several Republicans to withdraw their names from the letter pledging to oppose Obamacare funding, he falsely accused conservatives of supporting a government shutdown, and he actively encouraged Republicans to support cloture this week so the Democrats could fund Obamacare.
If Mitch McConnell had not opposed this effort, there is no question that we would have won the vote today. He showed that he has clout in Washington. Unfortunately, he used it to hurt millions of American families.
SENATE CONSERVATIVES
We want to thank U.S. Senators Mike Lee (R-UT) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) for their extraordinary courage.
Most Republicans promise to stand up for conservative principles during the campaign, but then let us down after they're elected.
Mike Lee and Ted Cruz are different. They deliver.
VIDEO: Watch Ted Cruz's Epic Stand
These two men endured relentless attacks from all sides. The criticisms from the Democrats and the mainstream media were harsh, but the most personal attacks came from members of their own party.
We need more principled leaders like Mike Lee and Ted Cruz because Washington won't change without a fight.
We are extremely grateful to have them in the Senate defending liberty and we will continue to do everything we can to support them.
Be brave, Jim. We are all praying for you.
Thank you for giving us a home these past years. Know how much you are loved and appreciated.
TED CRUZ MAN OF STEEL
Hi Jim. Sad day for freedom. With a little bit of Devine Providence Mitch will be primaried out. There were a few suprises on that list. Thune was one for me.
I am glad Lindsy G. voted for it. This should hurt him against his primary challenger.
McCain will not run again.
Too bad only a third of the Senate is up for re-election each election cycle. We need to support challengers to the traitors on this list when their terms expire. Surely there are conservatives who can take their places and serve with honesty.
They are democrats. They are progressives. They dispose us.
I hate all the APPEASERS in this party! To hell with them.

Poll to Freep: Would you support defunding Obamacare if it led to a government shutdown?
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3072060/posts
Dr. Coburn is a “fiscal hawk.” He is NOT for OBAMACARE as a Senator or Physician. However, he is a realist that writes:
“The current Defund Obamacare campaign, however, is based on a false promise that has been used by special interest groups to bolster political careers instead of focusing on smart strategies that can actually weaken and destroy Obamacare. By coupling the issue with the CR, these groups are telling the American people that Republicans in Congress can actually defund Obamacare by not voting for the CR or by allowing the government to shut down. This is simply not true. Simply put: we cannot defund or replace Obamacare completely until we have a Republican supermajority in the House and Senate that can override a Presidential veto. Even then, Dr. Coburn questions if we could obtain all 67 votes in the Senate needed to override a veto. Additionally, the Congressional Research Service (CRS) issued a report which concluded that even if the government were to be shutdown, Obamacare would still live on, not least of because the power to continue its implementation would be given to President Obama. Again, if a shutdown occurred, Obamacare would remain nearly fully funded and implementation of the exchanges would still continue on October 1, 2013.”
The concept of shutting down the government (which Republicans WILL be blamed for) is just not viable. In Oklahoma, where Coburn is from, a GREAT many people directly or indirectly get therr pay from the Federal Government. When those folks start screaming about not getting paid....it will cause GOP members to fold.
I do not like that we cannot stop the debacle of Obamacare...but Dr. Coburn is right.
All a government shutdown will do is hurt good people, but will not stop Obamacare. It will remain.
I know there are anarchists on FR that want to totally kill any federal government....not just Obamacare. They keep pushing ridiculous agendas that aren’t in any reasonable person’s interests.
Folks, we MUST get super control of both the House and Senate to negate Mr. Obama’s last two years. We will not get it by ticking off millions of voters by a government shutdown...it is a bad strategy. I trully wished it could work, but it cannot. To paraphrase with Dr. Coburn says elsewhere, you do not effectively take a hostage unless you are truly willing to kill the hostage. Except for extremists, no reasonable Republican is willing to destroy the government/country to stop Obamacare. So, why cause an unpopular disruption that will NOT work....and just make the POTUS more popular? It is a bad idea.
And what, pray tell, are these "special interest groups"? Empty rhetoric.
Tell them "YOU'RE FIRED!...STFU!"
America doesn’t want Obamacare. At all.
I guess 25 Republican clowns thought otherwise.
Most disappointing to me, I think, was John Thune.
God bless Ted Cruz and Mike Lee and the Senators that stood with them, to hell with the RINOs.
The very best to you on your surgery, prayers for a swift recovery and thanks for this wonderful forum.
Wrong...
You cannot be a “Fiscal Hawk” and then support one of the biggest expansions of government in the history of the US
Senator Coburn supports ObamaCare....this is not debateable
From your keyboard to God’s inbox.
It’s on like Donkey Kong.
“Senator Coburn supports ObamaCare....this is not debateable”
Your are an illiterate boob that cannot read, or never bothers to. IF you were, you would find that, as a Physician and Senator, Tom Coburn and steadfastly held against “Obamacare.” He just thinks it is a futile gesture to shut down the government to everyone’s detriment (to some degree) and NOT stop Obamacare in the process. He is being rational.
Tom Coburn is in NO WAY a RINO (like McCain)....he is not a big spender...in fact he is the most “fiscal hawk” of fiscal hawks.
The far extremists in the “Tea Party” and just as bad as the extremists in the “Libertarian Party.” Many are just plain anarchists that have a dangerously extreme hatred of the federal government. While the size of the Feds needs to go down....we cannot function as an entire country without one. States will trample rights just as readily as a federal entity.
“Tell them ‘YOU’RE FIRED!...STFU’”
What you write is not only profane, it is moronic. You are engaging in “class warfare” in the sense that you envy persons drawing a federal paycheck.
Grow up, get over your envy, and think rationally. Should the fed shut down...you and everyone else would suffer...but Obamacare will not go away. The egomaniac that is POTUS would NEVER surrender to a shutdown to scrap his “baby.” The POTUS would rather America go up in flames before he would admit to the error....and he isn’t up for election. It is FOLLY to think we can force him into backing off by a shut down. IT WILL NOT WORK. It will only make anarchists happy and no one else.
IF you think such anarchy is good, you are a traitor as bad as those on the left. You are an absolute fool of the highest (lowest) order. If anyone needs to shut up, it is you...NOT Senator Coburn. He is actually making sense. He knows that the Republicans calling for a shut-down to defund Obamacare will cave in long before Obama does. The end result will be to destroy the GOP and make Obama and his Demoncratic hoard stronger.
Supporting this nonsense is supporting the Demoncratic party....whether you can see it or not.
