Ted Cruz Reveals that the Republican Establishment Despise Their Own Base

The Revolutionary War was a rebellion against Britain, but it first required a battle between Tories and Patriots. Ted Cruz is fighting for the honor of leading the conservative movement. The main goal is to give the American people a voice, defeat the Democrat Party, and take over Congress and the White House, so we can shrink our federal government back to constitutional limits.

The battleground of the moment is ObamaCare. But the first adversary that must be defeated is the Republican establishment. Is it any wonder that the Republican leadership is working to make sure the defunding effort fails?

Ted Cruz is pinning his ambitions to the big reality the Tea Party represents: conservatives really are fed up with both parties in Washington, D.C. The Republican base allowed Obama to be re-elected when an estimated five million of us stayed home in the 2012 election. It may not have been wise, but it happened for a very good reason: they didn't see the Republican Party representing them.

The D.C. establishment, and this includes both parties, is doing very well, thank you. The suburbs around Washington are the wealthiest in the nation. They and their families were untouched by the Obama economic meltdown. A huge government, spending a quarter of our nation's wealth, with almost half the populace dependent on their largesse, is good for them. It is not good for us.

The Republican leadership want to defeat ObamaCare, but mostly they want to use it as a campaign talking point to return to power. They are not willing to fight with all their hearts and minds to protect the American people from this disaster. That might be risky. That might not play well in this week's polls.

Yeah, and I gave freepers a hard time for not voting for Romney last year.

BTW, if you think serious reform will emerge from the institutions and people in the five wealthiest counties in America, you are delusional. They profit too well and will oppose reform to the bitter end.

The framers gave us the means to do an end run around the elites, and we must use them.

I got with my state rep last week for an hour. We discussed initial efforts in Tallahassee to get an Article V state amendment convention movement going.

Tell me of your efforts to save our republic. If they are limited to voting, an occasional email or tweet to federal pols, and rants at FR, they are inadequate.

I recall there was an effort by some that would force Reps and Senators to spend more time in their districts/states. Vote electronically.

At least it’s clear who our enemies are. Next election it’s payback time.

So you have a representative doing what he promised and apparently doing the right thing, but you are refusing to support him?

Why?

...we need to be willing to admit that this strategy will sometimes result in a RAT taking over the seat of a RINO...

We also have to admit that a traitor in our midst will always result in our defeat, and it is absolutely necessary to destroy the traitor before we can prevail.

I'm not sure despise is the best word.

I think embarrassed by fits better.

I explained somewhat in #21.

We can vote for conservatives into infinity, but the structure of our republic has been corrupted to point that whom we vote for will have little effect.

Only the shell of our republic remains.

The elites pretend to follow the constitution (consider the sham, illegitimate passage and court review of Obamacare) and we pretend our vote matters.

It's the Tea Party vs. The Collaborators.

Unless anyone can think of a better term, let's call the RINOs what they are.

RINOs = Collaborators

If you stay home and not vote, you basically forfeit the “right” to b*tch and complain about the outcome

Every one of the RINOs should lose their next primary. Clean out the dead wood because it is not only useless but harmful in this last-ditch fight to save the nation.

I listened also and rand is solidly in the gop/e circle. Yes, he supported his friend Ted... those were his words... but he also said he did not believe that “shutting down the government” was the answer. He has bought the left wing talking point just like the gop elites have. He did vow not to vote for cloture but that is because Ted has branded anyone doing so as a traitor.

rand is not john mccain but he is also not one of us... Ted is. That saddens me but I am no longer going to give anyone a pass on these most important issues. He was sounding just like a DC Beltway, karl rove, republican snake oil salesman. Ted was on with Rush and he sounded like Nathan Hale, Patrick Henry and George Washington all rolled into one.

I summarized my thoughts in two posts to this thread.

I will be happy to respond to questions regarding the points I made, not silly snark.

There has been a difference between local Republicans and national republicans and we have been trying to point that out for years. The “establishment” republicans (McCain, Boehner,Christie, Graham, Jeb Bush, etc.) are just that “established” and want no part of true conservative values.

Support your local republicans as it all starts there. Luckily, we have a voice in Ted Cruz, Lee, Jan Brewer, West and we need to support and pump these guys up.

We have been too complacent and trusting these establishment republicans OVER AND OVER again to do the right thing and they have consistently showed their true colors.
