With a potential government shutdown looming in less than a week, Gov. Rick Perry of Texas said it would be nonsensical for his fellow Republicans to support any effort to bring government to a halt over the health care law.
I don't think it's a good option, Perry told The Fine Print. There's still time to sit down and try to fix Obamacare.

Which, sir, is why you didn’t get to first base in the GOP primaries.
Since when has the GOP elite been right about anything in the last 14 years anyway?
“There’s still time to sit down and try to fix Nazism.”
You cannot “fix” the unfixable.
I like Perry but he did support the establishment candidate over Cruz in the election. He is wrong. Why do they only think in terms of fixing a bad legislation? How much fixing ever gets done in DC?
Perry is clearly the same assclown we saw 20 months ago. He will never be president.
I agree but they’re slow and haven’t caught on yet.
Exactly who is clamoring to “fix” it, Gov? Never mind doing it over the next 5 days.
The value assessment here is this (aside from the obvious government control issues): what is going to do more harm, a temporary shutdown or the full implementation of the ACA? ACA will take billions out of the economy and (essentially) permanently place the government in a position where they cannot balance a budget. That’s why this is vital.
“ole pointy boots” has turned out to be a big disappointment for Texas.
The Republicans don’t seem to understand that you can’t make garbage smell like a rose garden.
At the very least, Ted is succeeding in smoking out the RINO vermin with his filibuster.
Fixing tyranny. More efficient Death Panels.
Hey, Yahoo, what does Perry think about Obamacare itself? What does Perry think about raising taxes? What does Perry think about expanding the size and scope of government?
Republicans will never figure this out.
The only time the dinosaur media cares what they say is when they say something that either supports Obama, whether it be the amount of golf he plays, or otherwise pulls the rug out from under fellow Republicans.
Didn’t Texas just shift their state retirees to Obamacare?
Well, add Perry to the Rove list for now.
What is it about Republicans the last few decades that make them so limited in their ability to fight?
“Oops.” What a clown.
So Perry wants to “fix” Obamacare? Aye carumba...
He's becoming a Zeno's Paradox socialist. If each political step from the GOPe gets you halfway to socialism, they claim that you will never actual reach socialism.
Right there is your problem Perry... putting the word "defund" in the same breath as "shutting down". Nobody should be talking about shutting anything down. Everybody should talk about defunding. The feral government IS funded. The only ones speaking of shutting anything down is Reed (sick!) and 0' and the 'Rats, if they do not help pass the CR funding just about EVERYTHING, nor if they do not help pass, short of that, the single-issue spending bills sure to follow.
