Sticks and stones may break bones, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid just hopes his words are enough to get Republicans to back off Obamacare.
“We’re not going to bow to Tea Party anarchists who deny the mere fact that Obamacare is the law,” Reid said this morning.
That was just the start of it, though.
Reid used words like "fanatic" and "extremist" to describe Republicans threatening to hold up a budget until Congress votes to defund Obamacare and its exchanges, which open for enrollment in eight days.
“Are Republicans so intent on undermining President Obama and the signature health care law that they’re willing to inflict severe damage to our economy in the process?” Reid asked. “If Democrats don’t bow to every demand they have, we’re going to go right over the cliff...Americans will know exactly who to blame — Republican fanatics in the House and Senate.”
Reid was not directing his words at the entire GOP. He was more interested in pulling Republicans away from the Obamacare cliff by turning its members against each other.
“I see more of my moderate Republican colleagues stepping up to speak sense to an extremist element of their own party,” Reid said. “A few reasonable Republicans are wise enough to know that risking the nation’s economic recovery for the sake of a pyrrhic ideological victory would be another step toward a death knell for the Republican Party.”
“I say to the House and Senate Republicans who continue to deny reality...listen to the chorus all around you. Listen to what they’re saying,” Reid said. “Your conservative Senate colleagues urge you off this reckless course...What remains to be seen is whether my Republican colleagues on both sides of the capitol are wise enough to listen.”

I hope the senate is “torn asunder” because many of the esteemed senators are criminals of one ilk or another. Many are criminals because they broke their oath to defend the Constitution and to defend the country against enemies foreign and domestic. Many should be in prison.

It makes it so easy for government to persecute the opposition in any manner they deem necessary when the general public is conditioned to perceive certain fellow citizens as the enemy denying them their deserved utopia.

I thought the RULES OF THE SENATE proscribed the calling of insults towards other members or officeholders within the current administration from the floor of the Senate.
If Leader Reid is establishing an easement upon these hallowed RULES of such an august deliberative body...
Perhaps Cruz and company, citing the Majority Leader's exercise of such privilege...

If Income taxes were not stolen directly from working US Citizens pay and that taxes were merit based it would be much easier to control these a-holes that call themselves representatives of the American people.

He says it’s the law. Yet he gets around the law by making the taxpayers pay for 75% of his premiums. Oh, how I despise that man! I would love to spit in his face.

Let’s see. I think the House voted against Obamacare this time. I think they would have voted against it the first time if anyone had read the bill. If the ship has a hole in it, then you abandon the ship. Obamacare is the Titanic, and it is full of holes.
I don’t care where he dies, I just hope that it’s extremely painful when he does.
Your Titanic comparison is on target. Cruz did a marvelous job but on reflection, I think there was one thing he could have said but didn’t. How about “The American people don’t want ObamaCare, and the more they learn about it, the more certain they are they don’t want ObamaCare.” Then he could have gone into the reasons why the American people were right using all the points he made. Probably no big deal but it would have been nice to hear.

I am SO afraid you’re right. I wonder what methods will be created to load us into the rail cars, or trucks, or showers, and how the public will look the other way as we are taken away.
