Great first step today by the House!
Now the bill goes to the Senate and there's no doubt they'll change it to fund ObamaCare. And then the House must hold the line! Reject the Senate's changes! Defund/kill ObamaCommieCare before it kills us!!
If Obama/Reid follow through with their threats to shutdown the government, then the adults in the House, with the full backing of the people, will have an opportunity to pass appropriation bills to fund the essential departments of government department by department.
The first appropriations bill to pass should be social security and medicare. This will set the stage for all to follow. The democrat senate won't dare fail to pass it if they wish to hold their seats in 2014. Then pass a bill to fund the defense department. Then the federal courts, the congress, the post office, etc., and cut the budgets where needed (ie, everywhere). Again, just fund the essentials. To hell with the unconstitutional federal functions that are reserved to the states.
Zero for the EPA! Zero for the federal departments of commerce, labor, energy, transportation, agriculture, housing, health, education and welfare, etc., etc., etc. Return all these functions to the states and the people per the U.S. Constitution!
Hold the line!!
Defund the federal behemoth!!
Our hope is the media will be forced to interview conservative republicans over and over. And they need to say “Obama and Reid shut down the government. Not us!” over and over.
They also need to say “We are in the majority because the people wanted us to defund obamacare. And that’s what we’re going to do. If the people change their minds and want to vote us out, that’s their right.”
If obamacare is not killed, this country will be.
Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.
Yeah, I know. Privatizing social security and medicare should be the goals. But that’s not going to happen today. What we can do today is defund ObamaCare and hold the line on federal spending. If we can defund some other departments while we’re at it, great! But we must ensure that we defund ObamaCare first. It’s the death knell for our constitutional republic if we allow it to stand.
And prayer. With God, all things are possible.
Worth repeating.
I agree that the military should be well funded.
A so-called “govt shutdown” (no such thing happens ever) doesn’t affect current military spending or military pay since those things are classified as essential.
Yes. Defunding, eliminating Obamacare is of utmost importance, and then we must look at other issues as well, BUT always with an eye on precedence.
Precedence is law.
Precedence is what the Left is up to IMO. I believe the issues that require our attention in most part are distractions while the Left sets precedence unchallenged.
If we look about us we see a lack of border enforcement for the past several Presidencial Administrations. A Nation without borders is not a Nation.
If we look about us we see other precedences in progress as well such as the U.N. ICLEI at work within our borders assisting Blue States, and Democrat/Leftist community leaders to create regulations in accord with U.N. Agenda 21.
We have no treaty that allows such foreign operations within our borders. Can anyone identify the President that signed such a treaty after which Senate ratified such a treaty?
If we look at our own heavily Leftist influenced Federal Government we see precedence being set with laws, and regulations that do not comply with our Constitution.
Precedence is law.
Setting precedence requires time, and time is bought with issues of distraction real, or artificial.
I think I see in this Obamacare, and the setting of multiple precedences of which I’ve not mentioned but a couple a complete overhaul, thus illegal discard of our Constitution in progress to be replaced by Leftist precedence.
I hope I’m wrong, but that’s what I see here.
The issues are as artificial as the amounts of money on the bottom line of the very real bills we are paying that finance our demise.
I wish I had the journalistic talent to put this in more easily understood format, but this is about the best I can do for now.
Precedence is law.
The Leftist’s are creating precedence while distracting us with artificial issues, and debate, thus rewriting, countering the Constitution with Leftist precedence as we are distracted.
If we remain docile with heads spinning due their artificial issues they will have succeeded in nullifying, and rewriting via precedence the vast amount of our Constitution that allows us as a Nation the freedom we are accustomed.
Just a thought.
Yup. And ObamaCare completely shreds the remnants of the constitution. The precedent set by ObamaCare effectively removes all constitutional limits on government if allowed to go forward. And unfortunately, this was aided and abetted by the Chief Justice who should have tossed the entire thing out on constitutional grounds. He left it to we the people to repeal it, so here we are. Defund it. Defang it. Repeal it!!
What happens during a government shutdown
SUMMARY
1) Workers in all three government branches are at risk of being furloughed.
2) Furloughed workers could receive pay retroactively. in every past instance where the government did shutdown, furloughed workers were given retroactive pay
3) Federal contractors will stop being paid
4) The court system would continue to operate, with judges, key staff memberincluding probation officersnot facing a furlough.
5) Social Security and Medicare payments will still go out, but experts say a shutdown could bring delays. During the last shutdown, CSR reports, the Social Security Administration kept fewer than 50,000 workers to help provide existing benefits.
6) Non-government workers might not even feel the effect of a closed government. [LOL]
7) National parks will close and the places people like to visit in Washington, D.C., will be unavailable.
8) Veterans could face holdups with receiving services regarding health and welfare and finance.
9) New passport applications could be delayed
10) travelers could face longer lines at customs when re-entering the country.
11) there are lots of non-profits and for-profits that are dependent on federal grants.
12) The countrys 368 national parks will shutter
13) The National Institution of Health will likely stop enrolling new patients
That's the whole thing, in a nutshell. It's so simple, even RINOs can do it.
BTTT! Thanks JimRob.
Ted Cruz was just on with Mark Levin. He gives all of us a challenge to get 5 other people to sign the petition at dontfundit.com and call their representatives. He said this can be done.
I have been posting a paper at a large community bulletin board over the place they get their mail:
Go online, sign the petition and tell Congress: Don’t Fund Obamacare! On October 1st, millions of Americans will be required to enroll in Obamacare and could lose access to their doctors and be forced to pay higher premiums and higher taxes. But there’s still time to stop it. Republicans in Congress can stop Obamacare if they refuse to fund it.
IF AN INDIVIDUAL CHOOSES NOT TO BUY INSURANCE, THAT INDIVIDUAL (I.E., YOU) IS SUBJECT TO A PENALTY. THE IRS MADE IT OFFICIAL. THEY ISSUED THEIR FINAL RULES ON THE INDIVIDUAL MANDATE. HERE’S HOW IT WORKS: THE FINES START AT $95 PER PERSON PER YEAR OR 1% OF YOUR INCOME IN 2014, WHICHEVER IS THE GREATER.
IT EVENTUALLY REACHES $695 PER PERSON, OR 2.5% OF INCOME BY 2016.
Bttt
Zero for the EPA! Zero for the federal departments of commerce, labor, energy, transportation, agriculture, housing, health, education and welfare, etc., etc., etc. Return all these functions to the states and the people per the U.S. Constitution!I'm on board with that CONSTITUTIONAL action completely!
The rest of it too.
Make the politicians stand up like American men and start being honest with their "governing" according to the Manual, The Constitution.
We can’t kill ObamaCare until we have both houses of Congress and the White House. Best we can hope for is defund, which is nothing more than delay.
And then what? Mid-terms are next year, and we could regain control of the Senate. What’s the campaign strategy after we’ve delayed ObamaCare?
YOU: Vote Republican so that we can kill ObamaCare once and for all!
VOTER: Why? ObamaCare has been the law of the land since 2010, and things aren’t so bad.
YOU: That’s only because we’ve successfully delayed full implementation of ObamaCare. Had it been fully implemented on January 1, we’d be in deep $hit right now.
VOTER: Yeah, whatever. That’s what you’ve been saying for fours years. Things aren’t so bad.
I guess I’m in the minority here, but I think the only way to get a popular uprising resulting in our recapturing the Senate in 2014, is to let ObamaCare go into full force, unhindered in any way, on January 1.
We’ve argued, debated, and warned for five years about the disaster that is ObamaCare. To no avail. But seeing is believing.
The GOP should very publicly say, “You wanted ObamaCare, then you’ll get ObamaCare — in full force — on January 1. We won’t block a thing. Full speed ahead. Vote accordingly in November 2014.”
No way, Jose. We haven’t yet begun to fight!
No offense, Jim. But your reply is flippant, and does not address are very real problem.
We’ve argued, debated, and laid out the facts of the inevitable catastrophe that is ObamaCare. To no avail — Obama was just reelected in spite of it all!
It was by design that the full implementation of ObamaCare was to be only in 2014 — only *after* the presidential election in 2012. Why? Because they knew if ObamaCare was implemented before 2012, the real pain of ObamaCare would have sunk Obama’s reelection.
Further delay of ObamaCare only plays into the hand of the Democrats — keeping the ignorant sheeple ignorant. They are *not* going to revolt against ObamaCare until they get creamed by it.
Well, we’re not going to give up and roll over. This is Free Republic! We’re here to defend liberty!! To hell with Obama and his Marxist/fascist programs. To hell with the GOP-e statists! We the people are speaking right now, today, through our elected reps. And we elected them to do this exact specific job! Block ObamaCare and they’d best not give up!!
I agree with everything you just said. I love your spirit and your indefatigable defense of liberty and opposition to ObamaCare!
I would also really love to hear your advice for us in the trenches, trying to make converts for the 2014 mid-term elections —
SCENARIO: We successfully delay implementation of ObamaCare. The 2014 mid-term campaign is in full swing. FReepers are trying to make converts....
FREEPER TO VOTER: Republicans must retain the House and win the Senate if we’re ever to kill ObamaCare for good.
VOTER: Why? What’s wrong with ObamaCare? It’s been the law since 2010, and while my premiums are higher, and I’ve had to change doctors, I still have insurance and things aren’t so bad.
FREEPER: That’s only because ObamaCare was delayed. If it ever gets implemented fully, private health insurance will be dead, and we’ll be stuck with a single-payer national health care system.
VOTER: LOL!!! You’ve been saying that for four years. If it ever gets that bad, I’ll vote for you conservatives. But for now, in 2014, I’ll vote Democrat, because ObamaCare isn’t as bad as you said it would be.
FREEPER:????
