Great first step today by the House!
Now the bill goes to the Senate and there's no doubt they'll change it to fund ObamaCare. And then the House must hold the line! Reject the Senate's changes! Defund/kill ObamaCommieCare before it kills us!!
If Obama/Reid follow through with their threats to shutdown the government, then the adults in the House, with the full backing of the people, will have an opportunity to pass appropriation bills to fund the essential departments of government department by department.
The first appropriations bill to pass should be social security and medicare. This will set the stage for all to follow. The democrat senate won't dare fail to pass it if they wish to hold their seats in 2014. Then pass a bill to fund the defense department. Then the federal courts, the congress, the post office, etc., and cut the budgets where needed (ie, everywhere). Again, just fund the essentials. To hell with the unconstitutional federal functions that are reserved to the states.
Zero for the EPA! Zero for the federal departments of commerce, labor, energy, transportation, agriculture, housing, health, education and welfare, etc., etc., etc. Return all these functions to the states and the people per the U.S. Constitution!
Hold the line!!
Defund the federal behemoth!!
I’ll put it this way, if there’s no ObamaCare, there’s no need to raise the credit limit. ObamaCare is totally unnecessary (and unwanted) new spending.
Anyone have Rove’s email address and contact numbers? I’m sure he would love to hear from We The People.
I don’t know that they’d dare block either, Jim. But I do see your point. Dems will never vote to defund their entitlements.
But putting defense first would give Republicans a chance to counter criticism they have received regarding the balance of the sequester cuts and I have a feeling our troops would appreciate it. I know mine would.
Abolish the 16th Amendment!!!
Ok. Whichever they put first is fine by me as long as they follow through.
Heck, maybe they should put funding the congress first. Then the white house.
ALEXANDRIA, VA Today, the Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF) called on Senate Republicans to oppose cloture on Harry Reid's attempt to fund Obamacare with a simple majority.
SCF Executive Director, Matt Hoskins, made the following statement:
"Americans won a major victory today when the House passed legislation to fund the government without funding Obamacare, but now the debate shifts to the Senate where Harry Reid and the Democrats will try to fund Obamacare. The Democrats have a plan to fund Obamacare, but Republicans can stop it if they stick together.
"Harry Reid needs 60 votes to approve his plan to fund Obamacare. If 41 Republicans stand strong and oppose cloture, they can defeat Reid's plan to fund Obamacare. However, if Republicans waffle and vote for cloture, it will grease the skids for Reid's plan to fund Obamacare. It's pretty simple any Republican who votes for cloture is voting to fund Obamacare.
"This is a critical test for Senate Republicans and especially for Mitch McConnell, the Republican Leader. It's time for Mitch McConnell to show some leadership and deliver the 41 votes needed to defeat cloture on Harry Reid's plan to fund Obamacare. Republicans like to say they are against Obamacare, but now is the time to prove it. Now is when it matters."
Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF) is an independent, grassroots organization that advocates for conservative policies in Washington and helps elect true conservative leaders to the United States Senate.
Excellent post, boss.
I just stole it and sent it to both of my senators and am about to send it to all of the Louisiana reps. I’ll be making phone calls later, too. If I can get through, this will be my message.
Time to hold the line!
Love,
O2
I got that too. I am thinking of writing a scathing response to it.
I guess this will be my opus. Sorry Jim, the govt is broken, this nation is broken hell this website is broken. I saw in the last two elections and participated in mass efforts to change things. Nothing happened, nothing changed and we are doomed. Those who receive simply outnumber us. It’s sad but it’s going to come down to the unthinkable. Be sure to to stay up to date on I think Kartographer’s threads.
Agree!! Senate Conservatives Fund AND Tea Party Express kept tabs/rosters that named and shamed. That's what got their attention, IMO.
Good luck.
10-4
Point being, I liked your OP, Jim :)
Stay in the fight, with whatever fight you have left. Don't just completely give up. Once we're over the other side of this mountain we'll all share in the sweet taste of victory. But, our journey begins with small steps.
Sure, we prepare ourselves. We plan for the worst, but we hope for the best. And, we know we gave the fight our all.
Stick with us and hang in there, FRiend! Don't give up hope.
ok, no opus but good lord, what has changed? have you and everyone else not called and voted and canvased and spoke your minds and voted and voted and voted only to our way of thinking get not just defeated but trounced. I get that the recall in Colorado was good but once again it will get swallowed up come election cycle by a dem majority. Even my own daughter thinks there is a “war on women” and if your thinking I haven’t tried with her your mistaken. Yes she did attend 5 years of college and yes it did brainwash her.
A great strategy!
Glad to hear you're not opus-ing ;)
While I don’t mean to be critical, if the goal is to defund the unconstitutional federal behemoth, why list as your first appropriations bill, two completely unconstitutional programs hugely to blame for the size of the current behemoth and on course to bankrupt the country?
