Here are the words of "The World Pledge", and I quote:
"I pledge allegiance to Humanity, and to the World that gives us life, one People, united in diversity, and one World, united in peace, with freedom and dignity for all."

I feel so affirmed that I could just run out and hug a tree!

“Now, to use the famous metaphor by Alfred Korzybski in his Science and Sanity (1933), this verbal world ought to stand in relation to the extensional world as a map does to the territory it is supposed to represent. If a child grows to adulthood with a verbal world in his head which corresponds fairly closely to the extensional world that he finds around him in his widening experience, he is in relatively small danger of being shocked or hurt by what he finds, because his verbal world has told him what, more or less, to expect. He is prepared for life. If, however, he grows up with a false map in his head [...] he will constantly be running into trouble, wasting his efforts, and acting like a fool. He will not be adjusted to the world as it is: he may, if the lack of adjustment is serious, end up in a mental hospital.

We all inherit a great deal of useless knowledge, and a great deal of misinformation and error (maps that were formerly thought to be accurate), so that there is always a portion of what we have been told that must be discarded. But the cultural heritage of our civilization that is transmitted to us — our socially pooled knowledge, both scientific and humane — has been valued principally because we have believed that it gives us accurate maps of experience. The analogy of verbal words to maps is an important one [...]. It should be noticed at this point, however, that there are two ways of getting false maps of the world into our heads: first, by having them given to us; second, by creating them ourselves when we misread the true maps given to us.”

“I pledge allegiance to ... the World that gives us life”

The World (sic) gives you life? This is a religious statement. How does this not violate the establishment clause?

What does “united in diversity” mean? Isn’t that a lot like saying “bonded together by the things that divide us”?

I think I'm on board with this...

"I pledge allegiance to Humanity,

So I am an ally of homo sapiens. So who is the enemy? Those who would promote lifestyles that make propagation of the species impossible... and those who prevent current pregnancies from going to completions... and those who stand in the way of terminating the lives of the most heinous murderers... and those who place the lives of a tiny sub-strain of some pond minnow over the health and success of my family... good so far...

and to the World that gives us life,

Yes, I am any ally of this planet. Anyone from other planets that comes here to cause a fuss will certainly see my tiny fists of rage in response! As for those of this planet who want to argue over what is best for this world, I refer them back to my first allegiance herein stated, to humankind... and thus the eastern-crested swallow-tailed blue mosquito comes in second. Sorry, Gaia. I already made my first clause in this Pledge.

one People, united in diversity,

Yes, we are one species, and we are united in that fact. And we are also dedicated to our diversity, as proven by our national boundaries, our dedication to regional ideas and ideals, and the very different languages and cultures and experiences that we have... and enforced by our occasional scuffles and fights over said diversity.

and one World,

Up until we branch out to the moon and Mars and Europa...

united in peace,

Peace through superior firepower and mutual respect, and not simple common subjugation to one large authority

with freedom and dignity for all."

For all... equally... and not special rules for special interest groups, nor Affirmative Action, nor graduated tax rates, nor differentiated treatment for certain faiths... with freedom enforced by a limited government, and a happily re-stocked gun cabinet and oft-used gun range, and a vote that is reserved only for those who contribute to the treasury.

Yeah, I'm good with this. :)
