The board that oversees the U.S. Capitol Police has opened an investigation into whether a tactical team of officers that was one of the first on the scene during the Washington Navy Yard shooting was ordered to stand down.
Several sources confirmed the probe to Fox News. The investigation follows reports that a highly trained and specialized Capitol Police team arrived soon after the shooting started, but was told by a supervisor to leave the scene.
The BBC, which first reported on the allegation, quoted a Capitol Police "source" as claiming "lives may have been saved" if the team could have intervened.
Aaron Alexis killed 12 people at the Washington Navy yard before he, too, was killed. The emerging allegations raise questions as to whether the tactical team could have stepped in earlier to stop the violence.
U.S. Capitol Police Chief Kim Dine said the force "offered and provided mutual support and assistance" on Monday, and that there is a "preliminary investigation into the allegations presented."

Oops, excuse me...there's a knock at my door (probably the NSA or the SS again).
And this report won’t be done until OCT. 28th!!!! WTF??? Good Freaking Grief...how long does it take to get answers?? Benghazi has gone on a RIDICULOUS amount of time!!
Until someone or some group decides to defy him...he will continue to exert this unbearable influence.
It will come...but apparently not just yet.
Curious minds want to know, what kind of “Supervisor”?
Police? Navy? White House? Eric Holder?
It would be nice if the article gave some indication what outfit this Supervisor was supervising.
“Stand Down!”
That’s exactly what happened during the first few minutes of the last THREE big fires in this area of CO, all the way back to the Hayman fire of 2002? That fire was the size of a large house when the local fire department was turned away by the Feds.
They could have stopped it in less than 10 minutes. Instead it burnt for seeks destroying around 200,000 acres. The area is still suffering, and will for another 20 or 30 years.
Where was NCIS in all this?
“And this report wont be done until OCT. 28th!!!! WTF??? Good Freaking Grief...how long does it take to get answers??”
It takes a while for everyone to get their stories straight.
This year?
Our enemies now know that they can stage a Mumbai type raid in DC and bring the city to it’s knees with confusion and chaos. Six men divided between three sites and the city would be deadlock for hours and hundreds dead.
I would think that maybe since at that moment they didn’t know if this was a terrorist attack of some kind and since they were putting the US Capitol on lockdown, maybe a unit of the US Capitol Police might be needed at home.
A better question is why the Marines at the Navy Yard didn’t have any ammo for their weapons. They could have neutralized the threat in minutes.
It will be interesting if this gets legs.
Remember though, cops are trained NOT to go in to an active shooter situation until the scene is secure. Remember Columbine.
The Obama cronies ordering a “Stand down” is nothing new..they did the same thing with Benghazi
How many weeks did one man and a teenager have the city in confusion and chaos?
What about SWAT Teams or snipers - aren't they trained to go in even as the situation is active?
That’s very dated. Columbine was a dismal failure. Look up Albuquerque police and the response at the Emcore shooting. They charged straight in, no waiting for swat. That’s the modern thinking.
...this report wont be done until OCT. 28th!!!! WTF??? Good Freaking Grief...how long does it take to get answers?
The report will be made public on the seventy-twelveteenth of November.
*SNORT!*
Is this the same “elite” Capitol Police that spends the day threatening and screaming at people who step off of sidewalks in D.C.?
We Stand Down in:
Iraq
Benghazi
Afghanistan
Syria
Navy Yard
War on Drugs
Black Panthers
Etc.
Just call it the Lazy Administration.
