Obama defends partisan speech after Navy Yard shooting

President Obama is defending the partisan budget speech that he delivered just hours after the mass shooting at the Washington Navy Yard.

In an interview Tuesday night with the Spanish-language network Telemundo, Mr. Obama said he was fully briefed on the shooting before he went on camera to accuse congressional Republicans of trying “to hurt people just to score political points.”

“I think that everybody understands that the minute something like this [shooting] happens, I’m in touch with the FBI , I’m in touch with my national security team, we’re making sure that all the assets are out there for us to deal with this as well as we can,” Mr. Obama said. “On the other hand, what is also important to remember is — is that — Congress has a lot of work to do right now. We don’t have a budget that’s passed.”

Congress has passed a budget every year since we took over. We even passed the 2009 CR because the Democrats were so freakin’ incompetent when they were running the House.

Obama:

“ya, too bad about that shooting.....but, let me tell you how those evil Republicans are getting in the way of me helping you......”

This clown belongs in jail!

His explanation that he fully understood precisely what he was doing by proceeding with that attack speech makes it seem even worse!

He’s on the defensive!!!! This is VERY good news!!! It’s a change from the usual ‘pretend to not notice’ posture!
Putin knocked the wind out of Obama and he’s been grouchy and agitated ever since.

We can’t let up now!

Just a couple of minutes into that speech he was praising “teachers”. That is when I shut him off. Usually I don’t listen to any of his speeches, but I was curious what he would say. Sure enough, he showed his evil soul within a very short time as Americans were still being killed. At least he didn’t do a “shout out” this time.

saw a poll which stated his numbers are still 47 per cent.

That in itself shows how stupid people are and how biased the media is.

Looks like at least Mitt got that one right.

Obama delayed his speech by 50 minutes, waiting for a respite from the saturated coverage of the shooting incident. He had a partisan campaign-style speech to deliver, and he didn't want the viewership ratings to suffer, so he waited until 12:30 pm to go on air.

To add even more insult, his wife at the same time was boasting about what a good time they would be having at the White House party scheduled that evening. Now think about that. There is an active shooter in the process of terrorizing a military station within DC city limits with continuous updates of multiple casualties and deaths being reported on all news stations, and all these two can think about is how to minimize the interference this story will cause to the delivery of a sophomoric partisan speech, and how the White House party will still go on in spite of this tragedy.

How many times has he - or his handlers - had to “walk it back” on some stupid statement? And how much effect has it had? None at all.

The only thing I can say is that this time, some of his devotees, such as Maureen Dowd, are wondering why their hero keeps saying such stupid things. Of course, her suggestion was that he should have made a speech about gun control, but at least she seemed annoyed with him. Maybe things will change with enough repetition.

It wasn’t the time, or the place, for an attack speech. Can you imagine if Reagan had gone out after the Challenger shuttle disaster and said “They touched the face of God...and by the way, when is Jim Wright gonna stop blocking my agenda?!?”

Then again, Reagan realized that some things are bigger than the politics of the moment. I’m not sure too many people in the current administration feel that way.

This speech as well as Carney's follow-up yesterday were so egregiously over the top even by Obama-standards. They both came off like bad propaganda films from the Brezhnev era, but filled with Nazi spite.

(Yeah, I played the Nazi card)

"“On the other hand, what is also important to remember is — is that — Congress has a lot of work to do right now. We don’t have a budget that’s passed.”

Budget? How about the IRS debacle, targeting conservative groups who Obama himself called "Tea-Baggers" clearing the way to freely condemn the Tea Party....where Obama was the night Benghazi fell and why the attempt to lie his way out of that mess; both Holder and H. Clinton lied to the Committee; Sebelius using extortion to pay for Obamacare; throwing America to Russia's Putin and braying about how clever that was; Fast and Furious, leaks; using shooting tragedies for political gain rather than punishing the department heads who did not do their jobs of maintaining security; Snowden; de facto POTUS Jarrett; and on and on and on. Has this nation ever seen a more corrupt administration due to a nonexistent president? Name me one!
