Faced with a politically risky push by some Republicans to defund ObamaCare, other party members are turning to an alternative strategy: delay it instead.
Republicans are divided on how to confront the Affordable Care Act. Some, such as Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Mike Lee of Utah, are pushing to permanently defund it.
But attaching such a measure to a resolution that funds the government after Oct. 1 runs the risk of a government shutdown if it doesnt pass. If that happens, Republicans fear they would be blamed.
Former White House chief of staff Karl Rove told Fox News people who overwhelmingly oppose ObamaCare also oppose shutting down the government by a 2-to-1 margin.
"They clearly do not like ObamaCare," Rove said. "They think its a failed piece of legislation that is going to hurt the country and hurt their families, but they dont agree with the strategy of tying it to a defund measure that might lead to a temporary shutdown of the government."

shut it down, it is an out of control pos and you saw that the sequester had no measurable effect whatsoever
...so defunding a law that everyone hates is just too radical for the opposition party?
If I were a liberal Democrat in 2013, I’d be laughing and crapping on everyone too.
There’s a reason for the arrogance, the condescension and the contempt from the Left.
It is highly unpopular NOW. Now is the time to obliterate it.
If thats what the GOP intends to do, of course.
Starve the beast.
Kill it!
The Libs are actually scared of a shutdown because they know that most the government can’t be shutdown. Almost all social programs have guaranteed funding but it will stay at the 2012 level.
Fine. Delay it. Delay it until we have an actual balanced budget and no longer have to pass CRs to extend the debt ceiling. I can tell you exactly when that will happen.
As Je$$e JackA%% once proclaimed: END IT, DON’T MEND IT!..................
blasted my senators and congresswoman for exempting themselves from obamacare
crickets crickets
“Karl Rove told Fox News people who overwhelmingly oppose ObamaCare also oppose shutting down the government by a 2-to-1 margin.”
I wondered when the Establishment Central FatBoy would opine on this issue. If Rove is opposed, then any previously undecided person should immediately be persuaded to get onboard with the defund effort.
We haven’t heard from Cruz, Lee and Paul in recent hours, on the state of affairs.
My question is, can they elicit potentially still more votes in the Senate, or, behind closed doors do they already know the count is locked in, now?
Plan B is being discussed only by leadership. Something about Graves bill to “delay”, which means stalling, not defunding.
Allahpundit makes the point about the GOPE tactic for ALWAYS putting things off to “the NEXT battle”, a tactic proven to be the standard operating procedure.
SHOW TIME, or bust, boys. We are at the edge. Be thankful we are still trying to save ourselves by the vote and not revolution.
Of course Rove has never been wrong about anything. Well, except Romney winning in a landslide, so why is he right here?
Pray America is Waking Up
Very well said tobyhill!! The time is NOW for this fight, now later.
How does that poll even make sense?
It tells me, it’s the messaging, lack thereof, from the Boehner socialists in power.
There is something fishy in Denmark, and the lack of message is so orchestrated, and the Heritage Foundation is getting blasted by the GOP, for spearheading this strategy to defund.
We are right now in the eye of the storm, prayer would be helpful.
Rove STFU.
IMO the only advantage of a delay vote is that it likely would pass with the votes of nervous Dems. And Barry, overflowing with hubris as he is, would almost certainly veto it. So the tar would finally stick to the Teflon after all.
where can I find these facts
the silence is deafening
