Why does the Navy rely on civilian police to protect the area where chief of naval operations lives ?
The White House is controlling the media and using the Washington Metro Police and the Park Service to tell the story...this is so they can recieve OBAMACARE funds for their shock troops
Can one imagine west point being unable to police its campus ....
the Navy Shore Patrol has apparently been called down like we saw in Benghazi so OBAMA can make a point about firearms...disguisting
It may also not suprise you to learn Hollyweird celebutards are already jumping the shark (literally and figuratively) to use this tragedy to rant on about gun control.
Im talking about Henry Winkler.
You’re kidding me.
Where did you cook the venison?
I forgot to /S
“Navy security would have no arrest powers in US against civilians.”
I miss the days of the signs on military sts that read, “use of deadly force authorized” .
I was a Navy Brat and lived at shipyards during my youth.
The bases were guarded by USMC contingents - NOBODY ever got on base who wasn’t supposed to be there. Much less got on base with unauthorized firearms.
Wouldn’t be surprised if the Navy Yard Commander is relieved of command. Even though security is manned by non-military personnel, it is HIS responsibility for security ...
“What happened to The United States Marine Corpse??????????”
Don’t know. It’s been a few years since I went into Quantico base. But last time I was there, it was no problem for a civilian to go on the base and the gate guards were Marines. I just told the guards I needed to be around some Marines and they understood.
It was only a couple years back that they started making you get permission to bring a weapon on board. Seriously. They have shooting matches there and civilians participate.
Most of our military were disarmed in 1965.
Was that 1973?
I was TDY to Fort Mead and TDA to Annapolis. When the goat was found missing my car was searched several times.
Aside from some that would be cooked on the weekend, most of it was passed to the locals or resident officers with whom we hunted.
West Point is on a fairly large military reservation. The local hoofed rat (aka whitetail) needed constant pressure to prevent its population from exploding.
1972, actually.
Army won that year too.
As I think about it youre right but it was a long time ago.
In 1972 Army beat Navy by one point: The last play of the game was a safety, as the Army quarterback backed out of the end zone as he ran out the clock.
Ah, never forget the happy times.
Each cadet was given little ‘rally’ towels emblazoned with “We Got Navy’s Goat!”
I am not certain what point you are attempting to make here. The SP's responding are merely naval watchstanding personnel with some minor apprehension and paperwork duties and training. They are not a "Standard" police-type force. Any SP's that responded to the situation were merely those individuals standing watch in the area and not any type of "special" group. A groundskeeper/watchman with a Duty Belt strapped on could have responded if called upon as well with similar capabilities.
MP's are the Military Police, their version of LEOs so your point for this thread is elusive at best.
It is cheaper to use civilian police and contractors rather than active military police.
Also, active military has been streched very thin by Afghanistan and Iraq.
ok, something’s just wrong there
i’m paying for the E-1 each and everyday, whether they’re in combat or home on base. for those on base, it’d make sense for some to pull guard duty. to use outside labor for guard duty would be to increase costs... while also leaving the security of the military base up to someone other then the military (which would leave them vulnerable to attack, obviously)
