Heres the read among Congressional Dems on this falls fiscal fights. At some point, House GOP leaders will have to pass an important bill with a lot of Democratic support stiff-arming the Tea Party in the process. GOP leaders are trying to defer that moment for as long as possible, but theres just no clear way around it. Multiple reports this morning tell us House GOP leaders are struggling to round up support among House
Republicans for their new strategy for the fall. They are proposing a vote on a measure that would temporarily fund the government at current sequester levels, with another measure attached to it that would defund Obamacare. The Dem-controlled Senate would pass the first but not the second; conservatives would get to vote to defund Obamacare; the House GOP would dodge blame for a shutdown.
But conservatives are rejecting the approach because, well, it wouldnt defund Obamacare. And lets face it, this strategy is rooted in fear. House GOP leaders dont want to tie Obamacare defunding to a government funding bill because it will pass the House and force a shutdown confrontation that they will lose. But conservatives wont be happy until they have that confrontation. And as David Drucker reports, this has frustrated more sober minded House Republicans who understand that this crusade is reckless, counterproductive and self destructive.
Right now, its unclear whether House Republicans can even pass their latest funding gimmick out of the House, because House Dems wont support it and House conservatives wont either because it wont ultimately defund Obamas tyrannical law. So House leaders are promising to fight the good fight in the next battle...

This leftist at the compost is just trying to help Boehner, yeah that’s it. /s
Ohio voters should be all over this dud.
Boehner must cut loose the Tea Party? That’s ridiculous garbage from the WP. He was never attached to it. In fact, Boehner has done everything he could to marginalize the influence of the Tea Party.
Boehner must go! He’s a loser not a leader.

I'm sure this Greg Sargent guy has the best interests of the Republican party at heart.
This is the Romney-GOP Agenda coming to you.
1. RomneyCARE/ObamaCARE FOR EVERYONE
(except the Congress, the pREs_ _ent,
their families, their Staff,
and a certain select, protected, religion)
2. Open Borders for illegals
with optional weapons from Holder.
3. Ignore the NSA/IRS atrocities
(except for the Congress, the pREs_ _ent,
their families, their Staff,
and a certain select, protected, religion)
4. Ignore the growing terrorist atrocities in America
and everywhere else with US taxpayer money.
Without the Tea Party, there is no GOP.
I like how the author says that it is “sober minded” to sell out America.
I’m sure this is what he wants. Don’t worry John Boner, we want to oust you too.
“John Boehner must cut loose the Tea Party”
They got it bass ackwards.
Should read:
“The Tea Party must cut loose John Boehner”
I see. RINO cowards are "sober-minded. Tea Party members are "reckless, counterproductive, and self-destructive". See what they did there?
The left-wing post cites left-wing writer, Drucker to confirm that it's sober-minded people in Washington versus the crazy folk.
If the WaPo is fer it, then I’m sure it ain’t good..........
Follow the $$$$$$$
Thanks for posting this big Jim, but come on - spare us all the agony andgive us the Readers Digest version of the Compost so we can get on with more important stuff like trimming our toenails and some such.....
Since when is Boehner “sober minded”?
Earth to WaPo: Read last night’s election returns from Colorado.
Exactly.
Johnnie Boy should have never been reelected as Speaker......or reelected at all.
He needs to go away, run his dad’s bar and retire.
Good point, Jim.
I think the floating of the idea that he is retiring after this term means he just might be burning bridges with conservatives.
I hope I am wrong.
Of course, his impending retirement also means there is no reason for any sitting House member to be loyal to him, either.
Eric Cantor, the next “in line” ought to pay attention and listen to the Tea Party.
