President Barack Obama will take some credit for a possible diplomatic breakthrough on Syria's chemical weapons stockpile in an address to Americans on Tuesday, but will keep pushing Congress to approve military force, White House spokesman Jay Carney said.
The White House said Syria's recent acceptance of a Russian proposal to give up its chemical weapons came about because of the U.S. threat of strikes, Carney told MSNBC.
"We see this as potentially a positive development and we see this as a clear result of the pressure that has been put on Syria," Carney said, when asked for the White House reaction to new reports that Syria will cede control of its stockpile.

What threat of strikes?
What for the I brought it up with Vlad, but Kerry quickly deemed it
rhetorical.
You may fool the “ gimmie mine “ crowd, but you won’t BS the rest of us
Hey he’s an affirmative action occupant...he gets a free pass plus 49% of the credit.
Head stuffed in toilet and given a royal flush is victory?
John F’n Kerry also deserves the Peace Prize. If only Chamberlain had used sarcasm prior to WWII, Hitler would have been checkmated.
Run for the hills the first time you hear about American "peacekeepers" in Syria.
Obama will claim that this was his idea and that he is glad Putin put it out there to Syria.
Obama will further say that if Syria doesn't comply... then watch out!
Book it.
itsy bitsy teeny weeny strikes that would not knock over Assad’s bowl of Cheerios is such a scary threat
lol
Everything about this Administration is small .... except the amount of BS they peddle to us
Obama claims victory for Russia, Syria, and Iran.
Let’s see:
1) Kerry makes bone-headed statement which provides an opening for Syria to avoid “punishment”
2) The Obama mal-Administration immediately distances itself from said bone-headed statement, and Kerry himself begins backpedaling like an unbalanced unicyclist on speed.
3) The Russians exploit Kerry’s bone-headed statement by cynically putting forth a ‘plan’ which exactly mirrors said bone-headed statement.
4) The Obama mal-Administration falls hook, line and sinker for the cynical ploy by the Russians; even going so far as to begin steps towards taking credit for ‘opening the door’ to a diplomatic solution.
By this time tomorrow, the ENTIRE thing will all be part of Obama’s brilliant plan to bring peace to the Middle East.
Of course, when the Syrians fail to “turn over all their chemical weapons to the international community”, Mr. Obama will be right there to remind us that he never really liked the idea in the first place, but that he had no choice but to pursue it since his predecessor, George W. Bush, left behind such a mess.
However the low info American voters will watch Obummer’s speech and think that Bathouse Barry just gave a beat down to Putin. After Obomba leaves the White House he will claim it was similar to the Cuban missile crisis in the Kennedy era. Hollywood will then produce a film called, “Barry the Impaler vs. Vlad the Wimp.”
Obama lied to us about Benghazi, and then spent a year covering up his dereliction of duty as Commander In Chief during the critical hours of the Benghazi Massacre.
Can anyone in the US Military trust Obama?
Why should we taxpayers trust Obama?
Who can trust someone whose own SEALED personal records cannot be verified?
Obama cannot be trusted or verified is the obvious conclusion.
I bet Weed, er Reid, had a conniption on that notice. He almost is sure to know he may not get even cloture on this one. No way the Congress in this environment is going to give him an open ended invitation to launch a war on his whim. He does, he goes alone. Meanwhile Bonehead looked up from his desk, made a hic sound, and uttered that if El Dope wants that, I will vote yes for myself.
“I believe it is peace for our time”
That about covers it!
Well, muslims do have a low bar to claim “victory,” i.e., survival. Why would a muslim like 0bama be any different?
