Fears of wounding Obama weigh heavily on Democrats ahead of vote
The Hill ^ | Sept 7, 2013 | Mike Lillis and Erik Wasson

The prospect of wounding President Obama is weighing heavily on Democratic lawmakers as they decide their votes on Syria.

Obama needs all the political capital he can muster heading into bruising battles with the GOP over fiscal spending and the debt ceiling.

Democrats want Obama to use his popularity to reverse automatic spending cuts already in effect and pay for new economic stimulus measures through higher taxes on the wealthy and on multinational companies.

But if the request for authorization for Syria military strikes is rebuffed, some fear it could limit Obama's power in those high-stakes fights.

Some said the GOP has shown little indication it will advance Obama’s agenda even after his reelection, so a Syria failure would do little damage.

What the hell!! Obama got himself in this mess... because he’s been protected from all the rest of his messes and he thinks he’s invincible. STOP protecting this guy! He’s destroying the country.. no need to worry about what voting him down would do.. it’s already been done by him!

He is still blaming everyone but himself. I found that last one so outrageous that I figured he wouldn’t get by with it.. but from what I saw from Fox, they just chuckled. This isn’t funny! The world is laughing at us... let him take the heat.. it’s all his!

Too bad fear of harming the United States of America isn’t even a tertiary concern to our Ruling Class Overlords.

Don’t worry. McScream and his butt buddy Lindy Gramamansty will find some way to screw it up and vote with their secret buddies in the homo party.

The Republicans have a golden opportunity to confer lame duck status on Obama for the rest of his term. I hope they don’t blow it.

Either Boehner or Cantor said that if it looks like the House will vote against authorization for military intervention in Syria, that they may choose not to vote at all, because they don't want to embarrass Obama.

That's an 'in-your-face' surrender to the left by our so-called Republican leadership. I think laughership is a better word for them. They'll do anything, and betray anyone, to protect Obama's hide.

0bama is doing some serious polling right now, but it isn’t Congress, it’s his media accomplices. It’s doubtful if even they can turn an 80% (at least) disagreement into a 50% standoff in the short time they have, but they can at least agree to ignore or marginalize the outrage that is likely when he gets the war he wants from a Congress too cowardly to deny it.

Obama put off speech til Wed. 1:00...

Late as usual. Figgers...

Did you see the news that he was over an hour late to the G-8 Summit meeting the other day?

Funny how he's always on time for golf, White House parties, fundraisers, and daytime talk shows. America has never seen a such a gagworthy putz hold the office of President.

I think the Repubs should announce that they are all going to vote "Present."

Then it's all on the Dem's shoulders. Let's see how many of them are willing to vote to go to war for Obama's ego.

I don’t mind seeing him wounded but I am concerned about how a wounded and cornered Obama will react.

That's the time when he'll overplay his hand even further -- perhaps to that final tipping point where, as I have long predicted, his own people worry more about their own personal and political fortunes and THEY will do him in ... kinda like Julius Caesar.

FReegards!

Lame Duck? He's a RUPTURED DUCK! Let the DIMS continue to rally to his defense! Never attack your enemy when they are in the process of destroying themselves!

Are you kidding? Boehner, McConnell, Cantor, McCain, et al, will be the first to wrestle the suicide implement from Obomba's hand.

Getting Interesting...in comes Putin AGAIN!

Putin preparing to show Obama how “Diplomatic compromise?” is still possible ...

Monday....Meeting....... Syria, Iran and Russia working on counter-proposal to U.S. strike.

The plan, which will be discussed by Putin and the Iranian FM on Monday, moots democratic transition in stages and expedited elections without Assad.

While United States President Barack Obama and his Secretary of State John Kerry continue their never-ending efforts to convince the Congress and America’s allies to support an attack on Syria, Iran and Russia are promoting a proposal for a diplomatic compromise that could prevent such an attack.

Obama would love to walk away from this fight, but the Saudis and the Muslim Brotherhood are not letting him.
