Shock, outrage and mocking criticism is building among conservatives — and those of other political stripes who put the White House and its possessions on a historical pedestal – over a photograph showing President Obama in an informal pose, with his foot on his Oval Office desk.
The desk hails back from 1880, a gift from Britain’s Queen Victoria. And even its construction is special: It was built with wood from the sunken Arctic Rescue Ship, the HMS Resolute. But to Mr. Obama, it’s a good place to rest his feet, as The Daily Mail reported.

Isn’t there some Muslim tradition about the soles of shoes being an insult to those they are shown?
I've seen pictures of Ford and W. Bush with their feet propped up on the desk, but if you look they were careful to have their sox on the desk not the soles of the shoe.
I thought I saw the Reagan pic posted here last time this came up, but it must have been the Bush pic. I googled for it, but all I saw was Reagan eating at the desk. Obama’s posture is different, but maybe because he’s taller.Not that I believe he has any respect for the office either.

Insecure and destructive personality types need to stroke their inflated egos with gestures that symbolize power and control.
Zero can wear a nice suit and look more-or-less proper, but his character is revealed through his feet.
That the White House would release this photo tells you just how out of touch they are. Keep in mind that at least a dozen people were in on this posed photo. It was choreographed and thought about for several days and cleared through for release.
He’s a caricature of the man he’s supposed to be. Sadly, the toxic mix of bravado/effete just comes out as effete. He can’t pull off macho if he tried.
They should have used Michelle. She’s macho.

And the only safe place is between his ears. There’s nothing there that can harm you.
