Sen. John McCain pulled his support Wednesday for the Senate resolution authorizing limited strikes in Syria, a blow to President Barack Obamas campaign to get congressional approval for military action in the war-torn country.
McCain, the Arizona Republican and Obamas 2008 White House rival, has long been a strong advocate for intervention in Syrias civil war, and Obama doggedly courted McCains support for the measure authorizing military force, including during a meeting at the White House on Monday. But McCain said the limited actions that would be authorized by the resolution dont go far enough in responding to Syrian leader Bashar Assads alleged use of chemical weapons last month.
In its current form, I do not, McCain said Wednesday when asked if he supports the measure, the Associated Press reports.
McCain had previously said it would be catastrophic for Congress to turn down Obamas request. While Obama won the support of House GOP leaders on Tuesday, McCains opposition could make it harder to bring other Republican foreign policy hawks aboard. On the flip side, it may make it easier for Obama to win support from war-weary Democrats.

This man is insane. He’s withholding his support because the resolution is too weak.
Why does he want to constantly employ our military in every hellhole around the world?
This isn’t being hawkish, this is freakin’ weird.
WTH??? Geeez,,McCain has completely lost his marbles. How does he know what’s in the current bill,,he’s too busy playing poker...
Or is it ‘porker’?
So what's McCain's objection? That the war won't be long enough or that we won't be killing off ground troops?
My guess is he just sees the handwriting on the wall, i.e. Congress will not support action. With this weasly satatement he gets to support the action before he didn't support the action.
LLS
He may be twisted but I don’t think he is twisting. He wants a bigger war and not a little limited response.
Does anyone remember the strangely worded description of the response plan Carney gave before the obastard described it as punishment or a shot across the bow?
“...So John McCain earns himself another epithet: Senator As-The-Wind-Blows. Lindsey Graham will be next.”
Senator as the Linds blows????
Ssshhhh. He’s playing with his iphone.
Just a correction, When we left, or when Obama Left, the country turned into a mess. The biggest betrayal of the American Lives lost.
IF we are to get involved, we need to be prepared to make sure the country is not left is a mess. That will require boots on the ground. This country, myself included, does not have the will to send more young people to die just to have politicians throw away victory for political gain. Given what happened in Libya and Egypt, we can not expect things to improve without our help.
So if we get involve, some idiot comes along and throws it away; if we just send bombs, the locals can't rebuild the country. And people wonder why the country has turned "anti-war".
Revenge is a dish best served cold.

“The two will be yucking it up by this afternoon. A Liberal/RINO love fest.”
RINO is an outdated term. The proper term in Republican. This and things like amnesty, funding Obamacare, etc. are what the party and its leadership from the top on down stand for.
Wonder how long before lap dog Lindsey does an about face.
Juan is an equal opportunity back-stabber.
He could have been voted out years ago if his opponents would have used the ammo they had. He wouldn’t have been elected in the first place. He was a traitor to his fellow POWs and many of the POWs were willing to talk about it.
Telling the truth about his A-H will be the only way to defeat him.
Bingo! He got a huge lift and is still getting it. But I’ve decided to never mention the name on here. It’s not worth the attacks.
McCain’s staff will send a nicely worded letter backing McCain’s intended legislative effort regardless of the input from voters. McCain knows best, according to McCain.
Treasonous vermin are appropriate words for many in Congress, IMO.
McCain has brain cancer. Its a well kept secret./s
Oh haven’t you heard? “She had no choice”. The excuses are breathtaking.
