Atlanta’s Hartsfield Airport (I refuse to utter ‘Jackson’ in connection with it) is a prime example of a money making concern belonging to a government. Essentially, the airport is the Atlanta Mayor’s own personal little b!tch that he/she uses to dole out lucrative concession contracts, collect fees, etc.
Numerous attempts have been made to force Atlanta to divest its control but every mayor and city council has vehemently fought it - even to the point that they’d be willing to give up the black off their skin before they’d let that airport go.
Given the collectivist nature of Mass politics Logan will never be privatized. That is a Taxachusetts pipe dream.
The future governor can, of course, put his holding in trust, a resolution beyond the pale of the Ethics Commission’s comprehension.
No longer travel for a living now.
Have only gone through an airport 1 time since the TSA existed. If I have an option, and I do, I simply choose to drive.
Know there are many many more like I am.
Now think about the way the TSA (again bureaucraps) handles the customers. Insane. Inept. Arrogant.
Effective? that is debatable.
He could always pull a Jimmah Carter and just give it away to the Chinese.
Could he give his 23% interest to a relative or friend? If the transfer is without strings, why wouldn’t that work? If he has a “wink-wink” arrangement that transfers those shares back when he leaves office, that’s his business.
I fly in and out of BOS several times a year and have never had an issue there. Way better than LGA or ORD. I hate those two airports... I have to fly to ORD tomorrow :-(
