Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) was met with enthusiastic cheers from an "adoring" audience during his address at a conservative summit on Saturday, the friendliest of any of the potential 2016 presidential hopefuls to speak at the Defending the Dream summit.
The event, hosted by Americans for Prosperity, drew a handful of other conservative stars and would-be presidential contenders: Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R ) and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R ) all spoke.
But according to The Washington Post, none received so warm a welcome as Cruz. He was met with chants of "Run, Ted, run!" after giving a speech focused largely on the imperative of defunding ObamaCare, a cause which he and a handful of other conservatives in the Senate have championed in recent weeks.
Cruz slammed fellow Republicans who have criticized the push as potentially politically harmful and pledged not to back down from a threat to shut down the government if the law is not defunded.
Right now, the people who are fighting the hardest against our effort to defund Obamacare are sadly Republican, he said. Over and over again, they say, We cant win this fight. Well, you know you lose 100 percent of the fights that you surrender at the outset.
Cruz has fast emerged as a darling of the conservative movement, taking a place somewhat lost by Rubio after the Florida senator took the lead on immigration reform, drawing him criticism from conservatives and leading to a drop in many national polls of the 2016 GOP presidential landscape.
Indeed, Rubio's reception at the same summit on Friday was decidedly less enthusiastic. Though he received cheers for parts of his speech, he was also heckled over immigration reform with shouts of "No amnesty!" from the crowd.
In contrast, Cruz took the stage to a sustained standing ovation and exited to calls for him to run for president.
Yeah, it can sometimes be easy to overlook the deeper, bigger picture of life while we're struggling with all the rot in our socio-political situation.
(She says she had you "pegged" as a troll all along.)
Yes...there is a God
This was just one of his infractions
He had plenty others.
He’s a blogger....and Canadian born if I recall
Maybe a grad student at San Marcos..... and I think teaches too
Hated anyone over 35.....and I mean like obsessed
Posted with that obscure southern nick that only someone like me or pelham would know right off to endear himself as like a paleo ...a ruse....when in fact he was wobbly on hot issues
But he was staunch RC...I’ll give him that
Anyhow....He sure brought this on himself
They never listen.
I would like to suggest to JimRob that he announces that the simple act of going birther on a Cruz thread (that is not specifically about that topic) is a suspendable offense, and that a repetition of the offense is zottable.
Do not forget that there are teams of paid Soros trolls, literally, who are here to bleed momentum and distract us on a Cruz nomination.
Kill them.
You are on ZOTcaine.
As a member of a 12 step program, I can offer you my experience, strength, and hope.
Yes, I remember that song. I added the keyword 'bugzapper' and 'troll magnet' to several threads over the years.
It can cause fatal lightening strikes.
He was obviously employing Alinsky tactics, repeating a lie over and over until people believe it.
These trolls are too stupid to see that FReepers are actually quite intelligent and very well informed because of Free Republic.
We see through that sort of tactic as soon as the troll ignores all comments, and he “answers” with the same, tired argument, over and over, to every rebuttal.
And why, pray tell, are you giving advice to paid Soros trolls? Ya got a big heart there, Laz.
That’s why I love you.
Yes, I believe that was his motive. I seem to remember that he was highly agitated at FR when everyone didn't support his 2012 candidate, Rick Santorum back during the primaries.
When I read his post #40 (below), even though he doesn't mention Santorum (on purpose I suspect), I thought I remembered his ummmm .... excitability about the Senator not getting much FR support.

I hope Ted runs, and I hope he makes the decision early and that other conservatives get behind him and we stop the tearing down and splitting up.
I hope a candidate who is eligible runs and we can all get behind him. Last time, IIRC - everyone was upset that Palin didnt run and then rather than voting for the most conservative candidate on the ballot decided to hold out. It was a disappointment.
We needed unity and we had a candidate who proved he could beat Romney. Too little too late. Now were supposed to get behind a fantastic conservative senator who happens to be ineligible. We lose on that issue and lose the presidency and then what do we get for it?

I believe that the early part of the thread also contained some equally intended posters. It will be interesting to see what their future is on FR, depending upon how coy they play their hand.
Yeah, nuke em till they glow, then shoot them in the dark!
Amen and thanks, he had many other infractions.
This is the first thread I posted to him and only did it because he was so obviously evading but he’d already been Zotted. *shaking head* :-)
I remember calling him a troll (pretty sure I did), just not how long ago. He was on my sh*t list from awhile back. I ended up just ignoring his rants.. very annoying (and won’t be missed by me at all)..
He also gave us Texans a bad name :/
Good zottin’ there Jim Rob.
Question: That Mark Levin thread from last week.... The article where Levin thought Cruz was ineligible? Turns out the headline was a lie and Levin really does believe Cruz is qualified.
Anyhooo... That thread was eventually pulled. (I hate when that happens). But didn’t JC post that thread in the first place? I do know he was agitating heavily on that thread and I - and many other FReepers - spent a lot of time and energy into trying to show hiim the truth.
Finally I gave up and concluded he was utterly opposed to Cruz on the basis that RINO’s like Christie or Jeb could move up the ladder.
There was really no other explanation to his rabid opposition to the idea that Cruz could run.
President Ted Cruz has a nice ring to it!
I leave zots to J.R. but I like Ted Cruz AND I like Governor Perry too.
