RAND SLAMS KERRY: 'HOW CAN YOU ASK A MAN TO BE THE FIRST ONE TO DIE FOR A MISTAKE?'

Appearing on Meet The Press on Sunday, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) slammed Secretary of State John Kerry on his willingness to intervene militarily in Syria by twisting his most famous words against him.

"I would ask John Kerry, How can you ask a man to be the first one to die for a mistake?" Paul said, in reference to Kerry's famous words against the Vietnam War to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 1971.

Interesting.

Who had the most, or really anything, to gain by using gas?

Well, the Syrian government didn’t and that’s a fact so who was it?

I’d have been more impressed with a ‘no’ vote on Lurch’s confirmation. Right now the only people in the United States Senate who can complain about Kerry without being hypocrites are James Inhofe and John Cornyn.

Oh. And TED CRUZ.

It would be a refreshing change to have a President who cares about doing the right thing and is not focused on his “legacy.” Pathetic.

Along those same lines, I’d like to see a law against naming anything built with taxpayer funds - buildings, highways, bridges, schools, etc., after politicians - ever. If a politician is so fantastic and people want to freely contribute to some sort of monument, fine. But no tax dollars should ever go to such things. Monuments to narcissism.

Probably because he worked for a Republican so I was more inclined to believe him. I fell for it, too. Anyone who is slimy enough to work for the Zero administration is suspect right from the start. I can’t think of any excuse that would ever make me trust anyone in this administration.

Agree.

He thinks he is intelligent when he is barely adequate. An intellectual lightweight.

I also see someone who is totally compromised, who has no principles whatsoever, who will do anything to acquire money and power. Marry the widow of a rich man. Evade taxes. Lie about war injuries. Be for the war when it’s in his own best interest. Be against the war when it’s in his own best interest. Suck up to Zippy when it advances his career.

Putrid.

"It's odd and out of character for Kerry to (1) not be very suspicious of it being Assad who's responsible for the use of chemical weapons and (2) be speaking about war as a solution to anything and (3) seriously believing that the scope of war involvement can be contained."

Just how can you believe any of your words? Do you actually believe Kerry has EVER stood for those points on any occasion it didn't personally benefit him against only Republican leaders? Can't you see he's always only been a lying, opportunistic idiot throughout his whole life? Do you remember the Swift Boat guys who were able to tie him down with just a handful of his lies?

Some people here on Free Republic have an incredibly short memory, or wrongly choose to be overly courteous to America's enemies.

Great post.

The only consolation I have in all this is that Zippy is such an idiot that I sometimes wonder if he is doing more harm than good to the Islamic cause. Which side of Sunni/Shiite is he on? When he dithers that allows more time for both sides to inflict damage on each other. If he drops bombs, that damages at least one side.

I don’t understand the current situation well enough to have a solid opinion for what we should do, but my naive opinion is that the longer we stay out and let our enemies duke it out, the better. I don’t want us on either side. It’s like choosing between a cockroach and a rattlesnake.

Putrid.

In other words, Kerry is a "rotten human being".

And when one examine Kerry's character compared to the others among the last four Democrat presidential candidates, one notes some amazing similarities.

It takes a "rotten human being" to win the Democrat's presidential nomination.

Some people here have an incredibly short memory (re: about Kerry)

My memory about Kerry goes way back, to his leadership of VVAW. It was not the easiest path to success for a Yale graduate and Forbes relative. I remember him being very passionate and sincere about protesting the war in VietNam once he was discharged. Having been in harms way, he's the last person I'd believe would be advocating war as a solution to this quagmire. Also, he's not stupid and I find it hard to understand why he hasn't addressed our questions about the circumstances of chemical weapons being unleashed in Syria.

The Swift Boat thing I always thought was an exaggeration and it was easy for veterans who did not fare as well as he did after the war to "remember" the incident.

Kerry and even Biden might be weak links for Obama, having actually had experience with the horrors of war. We might get further with them with serious questions and some respect for their life experiences. JMHO

Sorry, but this kind of grandstanding BS is just that. We all bitched about it when Dick Durbin, Pelosi, Reid and the rest of the detestable libs said crap like this. I’d hope we are better than that.

hopefully the military will finally stick up for the military. dying for good reasons are things the military can handle. dying for politics and false info is insanity and should be a capital crime that requires the death penalty to those attempting to get others to die on deliberately false info.
