“Member”...singular. So we have a nutcase in Congress. And he happens to be a Republican. This is news?

Peter King’s major constituency are Jews. He is posturing to show how he supports them. Also, he represents NY before The USA.

What is wrong with this war monger? He wants the US to support the jihadists in Syria (like we did in Libya and Egypt) and knows that Congress, which is supposed to represent the people, reject that military action. It is illegal to aid and abet jihadists! Not to mention, totally insane.

Our control freak globalists are going to have to let go of the idea that they can force love and peace on the world through war and Islam. What a bunch of nuts!

The relatives of the 17 Americans killed in the 1983 United States embassy bombing in Beirut should be asked their opinion about a possible military strike on Syria. These family members should be invited to Congress to testify.

October 23, 1983: Marine Barracks Bombing in Beirut

Wikipedia

Imad Mughniyeh and Mustafa Badr Al Din took charge of the Syrian-Iranian backed operation. Mughniyeh had been a highly trained security man with the PLO's Force 17 . . . Their mission was to gather information and details about the American embassy and draw up a plan that would guarantee the maximum impact and leave no trace of the perpetrator. Meetings were held at the Iranian embassy in Damascus. They were usually chaired by the ambassador, Hojatoleslam Ali-Akbar Mohtashemi, who played an instrumental role in founding Hezbollah. In consultation with several senior Syrian intelligence officers, the final plan was set in motion. The vehicle and explosives were prepared in the Bekaa Valley which was under Syrian control.

I don’t believe the President must consult Congress if we have been attacked, or the attack is imminent. Time is a factor in that. In this situation, the U. S. has no bones in the game at all.

For this, the president most certainly needs to consult with Congress. Not to do so would be a major infraction.

There is no excuse for our getting involved here. None whatsoever.

“He is a moderate or establishment Republican. “

NO. he’s a POS who should be primaried. This idea that “he’s the best we can hope for in his district” $hit is why the GOP can’t get anything done. Screw the “big tent,” because there is never room in there for real conservatives.

Others will question why the US can tolerate, for example, two million needless deaths from starvation in North Korea without producing a military response

IIRC, the Korean War is a UN war, currently with a 'temporary' cease fire. It would be up to the UN to declare it a hot war again.

I also believe it is the first war the UN declared. Interestingly, 60 years later, it's still technically a war. A UN war.

Those better informed than I am about the history are welcomed to chime in and correct any mistakes.

While we’re testifying, we should explore the how the US funding of the “Afghan Mujahideen” who later morphed into Al Qaeda.

"Others will question why the US can tolerate, for example, two million needless deaths from starvation in North Korea without producing a military response, but is chomping at the bit to engage militarily after the sad deaths of a few hundred in Syria. This last point suggests it is not cultural sensitivity alone that prompts US action,"

Hadn't thought of this; you are right.

Maybe because he does't have Muslim Brotherhood at his back.

I would not be surprised if an "event" happened on US soil.

It would galvanize Americans to get behind an attack on Syria.

"IIRC, the Korean War is a UN war"

Balding_Eagle, technically it wasn't/isn't proclaimed a "war" - I forget what it is called but it justifies US military still being on patrol in DMZ South Korea.

Something like that?
