AP Exclusive: Obama offers new gun control steps

Striving to take action where Congress would not, the Obama administration announced new steps Thursday on gun control, curbing the import of military surplus weapons and proposing to close a little-known loophole that lets felons and others circumvent background checks by registering guns to corporations.

Four months after a gun control drive collapsed spectacularly in the Senate, President Barack Obama added two more executive actions to a list of 23 steps the White House determined Obama could take on his own to reduce gun violence. With the political world focused on Mideast tensions and looming fiscal battles, the move signaled Obama's intent to show he hasn't lost sight of a cause he took up after 20 first graders and six adults were gunned down last year in an elementary school in Newtown, Conn.

"Won’t affect CMP it was created by Congress..."

We shall see. Given the lawless overreach demonstrated by the Obama regime over the last five years, accompanied by a gutless GOP that just sits on its thumbs, I have my doubts.

I agree.

The SKS is an excellent, and relatively inexpensive, rifle - those with machined receivers being vastly superior to those with stamped receivers.

They also use exactly the same ammo as the AK47/MAC-90 - 7.62x39 - which is plentiful and cheap (for now).

Actual Russian-made models are harder (and a bit expensive) to come by these days, but models from Yugoslavia, Rumania, etc. are still readily available (for now).

I paid $150 for mine about 20 years ago.

The $170 SKS rifles were not made in Russia.

Still worth buying, though, as long as it’s got a machined receiver.

This thing can still be stopped. All it takes is some Senators and Congress Critters with some balls to object to the EO once it’s published in the Federal Register. They get 90 days from the time it’s published to fight it. Other EO’s have been stopped this way, notably a few antigun ones from the Clinton era.

Well, we can forget it right there, then.

Nope, applies to the M1 Carbines as well in practice. Note all the South Korean Garands that were ‘referred’ to SecState regarding their import and sale, then denied.

And here’s an article referencing the M1 Garand block: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/06/foghorn/bill-would-allow-importation-korean-m1-garand-carbine-rifles/

It seems that O’Bastard the Halfrican is intent on taunting gun owners. He is a petulant little boy, not a president.

I don’t even own a gun but who made this guy king? It’s Congress that passes laws concerning civilians in peacetime, not the President and not the Supreme Court.

Well, we can forget it right there, then.

Yeah, I was going to add that caveat myself in the original post but what I'm HOPING for is that someone from one of the Free America states like Idaho might mount an effort and recruit more. At least that's what I texted to my nephew who lives out in Idaho.
