The Presidential Eligibility of Ted Cruz
Got your attention yet? I have a modest proposal for ALL FReepers concerning this issue, but let me explain why there is a proposal at all.
The last couple of weeks our venerable and sainted media (peace be unto them) has decided to, after all these years of silence, bring up the issue of Presidential eligibility. The strange appearance of article after article would make you think they were about to expose the birth certificate of messiah Bambi from a Kenyan hospital and show proof of a renouncement of his citizenship while in Indonesia .
Alas, no its not about the eligibility of our current fearless reader, instead its about the eligibility of Senator Ted Cruz. For those of us hiding under rocks, Ted Cruz just happens to be one of the finest conservatives to hold office. Hes smart, engaging, persuasive, handles MSM traitors journolists like pathetic kindergartners begging for more candy, presents conservatism naturally as a compelling counter to totalitarian leftismliberalism, plus he really wants to move the country to the right normal place of excellence it once was.
Right now, Ted Cruz is trying to rally the GOP to try to defund Bambicare. He is lobbying for it in the Senate, the House, and more important is rallying the GOP voters to sign a petition urging all GOP members of Congress to join the effort to defund this monstrosity. He is in the breach, fighting the good fight, he is the spearhead of this effort. With this and other efforts he appears to have risen to the top of the leadership of conservatives in America. He has the ear and confidence of most conservatives at this point.
So, does anyone hear believe the MSM is interested in simply following the Constitution when they bring up the question of his eligibility? If you do, read no further. If you dont believe the MSM wants us to be fighting amongst ourselves at this point, read no further.
Based on what Ive said above: Here is my proposal:
As conservatives, as FReepers, lets no longer do what the MSM/Soros/democrat complex wants us to do on this issue, namely fight over the eligibility of Ted Cruz and divide the conservative movement at this crucial time. For those of you who believe he is not eligible, understand these two facts:
1. Senator Cruz has not declared for a presidential run at this point, so there is NO issue. Kindly stop making it an issue, particularly right now. Stop. Cease. Desist. It is not important, hes not running yet. Kindly don't post articles from the MSM or comment on said articles if they are only about the eligibility of Ted Cruz.
2.You are doing the bidding of the MSM/Soros/democrat complex when you do so. Theyve made it clear they want to divide us on this issue, dont take the bait. Also, see 1. above. Kindly realize that when the Wa ComPost runs 12 articles in 2 days about this issue, its not to help conservatives unite.
For those of us who think he is eligible. Remember number 1. above: He is not yet running, there are more important things to do right now. If you see someone on the opposing side, I suggest you link them to this proposal and ask them if they want to continue to divide conservatives during this crucial time, ask them if they really want to carry the water of the media/Soros/democrat complex.
So here again to all: Lets call a truce on this issue. Not to surrender your beliefs, no one has to do that yet, he is not running. Rather, lets unite behind the conservative principles that Cruz is pointing us all to, particularly lets unite to ask the GOP to defund Bambicare. Its important to do so rather than to quibble over what is at this time, a nonexistent issue ginned up by our domestic opposition.
Thank you for your support.
Once again, thank you for your input on this thread; once again, if you know others on your side to ping to the discussion, let’s do this so we can unite to defund and deal with other pressing issues that will continue to destroy this country.
If I were your opposition, I would strongly encourage you to follow this path you advocate.
This is Mr. Robinson's house and I respect him, his family and the asset that is Free Republic, so I will try to refrain from pushing this too far.
Lance Armstrong gave back his medals. Greg Lemond kept his. Babe Ruth is still loved. Pete Rose, not so much.
I believe how you play is more important than the "win", though you don't always know that in the moment.
I see the Constitution as being somewhat sacred. What you're advocating is in a way like promising to work your job every Sabbath to restore the Ten Commandments. I guess nine out of ten ain't bad?
I think we should strengthen our definitions, not weaken them.
I think we should use the strong assets we have to unite us, rather than spend our assets on a chance for a "win" that poses a strong chance to divide.
I strongly am in favor of Senate Majority Leader Ted Cruz!!!
The problem with not responding to the NBC derangement people is that they are busily proselytizing unwary Freepers to their heresy. If left unchecked we will have a large body of Freepers and lurkers who will be convinced that they are violating their conscience and spitting on the graves of the founders if they vote for Ted Cruz in the primaries.
Do we want Cruz/Palin 2016, or will we be ok with Chrstie/Graham 2016.
If Cruz runs we need to support him 100% or we get another loser RINO as our candidate.
I respect your opinion, but you're the one saying "never", not me.
LucyT and null and void have eligibility ping lists. You should ping them.
I have a counter offer to your proposal. If those who believe Ted Cruz is eligible will stop scoffing at those who believe he isn’t eligible and those who think Ted Cruz is ineligible will stop calling anyone who disagrees with them a troll, I think both sides can cooperate ... for now.
Ultimately, the discussion needs to take place, preferably in oral arguments before the SCOTUS, but I digress.
Those who believe Cruz is eligible are not trolls and those who believe he is not eligible are not being intentionally divisive.
FWIW, I do NOT support the idea of banning all eligibility discussion about Cruz, but I DO support the idea of banning such discussion on any thread except an eligibility thread.
Can you name 5 senators that would vote for Ted Cruz for Majority Leader?
The only ones I think would consider it are Mike Lee and Rand Paul.
And if any tea party Senator would stand a snowballs chance of getting that position it would be Mike Lee. And that ain’t going to happen until at least another 10 years. If Christie gets the GOP nomination, then we don’t have 10 years.
BTW if Cruz is on the ballot in your state are you going to vote for him? Or are you too principled to do so?
If you read my post, I have asked both sides to refrain.
Let’s see what the other side does, for now let’s hold fire unless they refuse to do so.
Unless Ted Cruz stays in the Senate a very long time, he’ll never be majority leader.
There is, however, nothing that prevents a former president from returning to Congress, either in the House or Senate
That is why I said I'd honor a cease fire, but I won't unilaterally disarm.
If they shoot, I'll fire back.
And then have the eligibility threads banned and your problem is solved, right?
I'm not buying any of it. I'll continue to defend the Constitution until my last breath.
BTW if Cruz is on the ballot in your state are you going to vote for him? Or are you too principled to do so? No. I won't. obama isn't eligible and neither is a guy born in Canada to a Cuban father.
Just because the other team cheats isn't a good reason for me to cheat. We should strengthen our principles by standing up for our definitions, rather than losing, one definition at a time.
Plus, there is a mess of fraud and such that resulted in obama and should be unraveled not abandoned, along with aspects of citizenship, such as anchor babies and amnesty, that would be granted by conceding this issue to elect popularity over principle.
Until we are officially no longer a Constitutional republic, that oath thing I used to do is still in effect for me.
Here, let me automatically lose the argument for you; just for fun, consider:
Hitler and Napoleon, often considered to be anti-christs, were not NBCs of the nations they eventually lead to wage war on the world, but they sure knew how to sound like a native and inspire nationalism in times of hardship.
Sorry, I can't help myself with that kind of crazy.
I watch a lot of Armageddon TV and am researching prophecy and faith for a research project I'm involved with and it's definitely rubbing off on how I view our moment in time and in the story we were born into.
Wrong. I support the eligibility threads. They serve a purpose. I do not want to see them banned.
You have every right to speak your mind about eligibility. My suggestion was that we not hijack Cruz threads (unintentionally or intentionally) with eligibility discussions. We can fight about his eligibility on eligibility threads, where there are almost no rules.
If someone posts an article specifically about Cruz’s eligibility, then it is an eligibility thread.
In the end, it’s Jim’s house and Jim’s rules. I’ll abide by his decision - whatever it is.
” If Cruz runs... I will back him... and Jim Robinson is on record saying the same. We ALL need to embrace Conservative Tenants and to praise those that live by them in DC. Cruz is one honest man that does!”
I agree. He is by far, the best man we have out there. In fact, the ONLY one out there. Sad but true.
Any thread where someone advances the idea of Ted Cruz for president is an eligibility thread.
Uh, they didn’t “surrender to Romney”. What they did was refuse to follow the insane demand that everyone who feared and loathed an Obama presidency NOT vote for the only one who could defeat him.
Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin, the entire anti-Obama voting population of every state that Obama did not rake into his winner’s column - thanks to their votes and no thanks to the insane demand that they all refrain - we have them all to thank that Obama did not win every state in the union.
The same voters you trash for standing up and denying TX to Obama also voted the inestimable Ted Cruz in, over David Dewhurst and to replace Kay Bailey Hutchinson.
As long as you bang the useless drum, I’m here, Norm...
All this talk about Cruz eligibility is being inserted into the conversation by the LSM to distract and divide us. We must not take the bait.
Someone on the left has been reading Sun Tzu, and is applying it brilliantly. Weve got to be just as sharp, and parry that thrust with even smarter application of the old war philosophers works.
Ridiculous.
Bury our heads in the sand--the problem will go away.
Under current Constitutional principles, he isn't eligible. If the Court is going to change the generally accepted view, that would be great and will happen no matter what we do now.
More likely, Jeb Bush and Christie wait until Cruz eliminates the Conservative candidates; then they and the national media will discover that Cruz is ineligible; the Republican Party will adopt convention rules preventing nomination of persons not eligible to hold the office; Bush will be the nominee and we will get another Liberal President.
We have plenty of time to work this problem if we start now. Further, it will help get organized for the coming campaign.
We should amend the Constitution to define the term Natural Born Citizen to mean a person who is a citizen at birth under Citizenship law in effect at the date of birth who has one parent, two grandparents; and four great grandparents who were born within the geographical territory of the several states.
So you won’t vote for Ted Cruz because you think he will be another Hitler or Napoleon
No Amendment needed. Just find a candidate who is eligible as intended by the Founding Fathers.
