UK and US military chiefs are drawing up a list of targets for precision-guided bombs and missiles to strike at the heart of Bashar Al-Assads regime. Defence correspondent Ian Drury looks at the options.
WHAT TARGETS WOULD THE COALITION HIT?
The favoured option among top brass is for limited Western action using stand-off weapons from long distance to disrupt Assads ability to carry out chemical attacks and damage his military machine.
Intelligence on targets would come from pilotless drones patrolling the skies above Syria and special forces on the ground.

So, what time do we attack? Dawn? Check.
Just wanted to know when to bring the family down into the basement.

did you want nothing done after the deaths of 3000 innocents in the Trade Towers and the Pentagon?....
the only problem with Dubya's plan is that he did not fully understand the end point....

Why should we hit Assad anyway and side with the Muslim Brotherhood and Al-Qaeda?

Very possible and most likely.

War Crimes.
There is no UN resolution for attacking Syria.

Wrong side folks. Islam functions best under a dictator. The more brutal the better. After all to be a follower of Islam means to submit. Democracy is inherently problematic with their history.
The Brotherhood squads are just jihadi boyz we are giving cash and weapons to. In the wink of an eye they'll use them on us without hesitation.

Just as bad; how can we be sure that the air strike would destroy the chemical weapon stocks and not simply disperse them?
I don’t think I’d send a cruise missile into a storage facility for Sarin.
If the US & UK release relatively large quantities of chemical weapons there is the possibility that that the area would be contaminated for CENTURIES as the ex chemical weapons facility in the Caspian sea is now a dead zone.

By all means, let’s turn Syria into another failed state and AQ bedroom community.

The US has been the big p*ick screwing up the world for quite a while. I fear our nations judgement will be severe.
So what sort of bug is up your but about the U.S.? We may not be perfect but we are still hte bastion on most of what is good in the world.
For example, name a single country that donated more aide to Haiti (when they had their earth quake) than the private civilians in the U.S. If my memory stands right, the answer is NONE. Our citizens are the best in the world... and usually the most generous so get off your beat up on the U.S. horse.
Move to another that works better for your life style and world fantasies.

A great big pile of steaming warmongering.
I remain 99.0% skeptical that Assad used Chem weapons. And I remain 99.999% convinced that the West has not the slightest piece of conclusive evidence that he did.

Too overt. The Russians are not stupid and would not do anything that blatant.

Any moron can see this is a false flag provocation.
This is made for the low information voter for sure. They will give obama a big bounce in the polls... and maybe the presidency for life... at least that is what he and the rest of the libs want.

This may be just what gets us into really bad territory. It is another seemingly unreal situation hitting the U.S. at the worst possible time (when obama is our president.)
Someone remind me why it was so important to not vote for anyone other than obama. To all of you non-voters this will all be on your conscience. Nothing good has come from your non-vote in the last presidential election.

I was opposed to invading Iraq (though I supported our troops once we attacked), and I am opposed to attacking Syria.
It’s stupid.
I may be wrong, but I don’t think we will attack Syria. Time will tell.
It’s really sad to wonder (as a FRiend opined above) which side to support in an upcoming WWIII.
Makes me want to puke.
Zero is clearly and fundamentally anti-American.
As for your comment, I think that Israel also came to Haiti’s aid in a big way. Maybe not in the scope of US aid, but per capita probably close.

No good comes from this. Best thing we can do is keep all sides shooting. Otherwise stay out.
Iran vs Iraq is a good model. Keep propping up both sides for a decade or more. Keep em shooting.
Now that’s the Byzantine way.
