New York's attorney general sued Donald Trump for $40 million Saturday, saying the real estate mogul helped run a phony "Trump University" that promised to make students rich but instead steered them into expensive and mostly useless seminars, and even failed to deliver promised apprenticeships.
Trump shot back that the Democrat's lawsuit is false and politically motivated.
Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says many of the 5,000 students who paid up to $35,000 thought they would at least meet Trump but instead all they got was their picture taken in front of a life-size picture of "The Apprentice" TV star.
"Trump University engaged in deception at every stage of consumers' advancement through costly programs and caused real financial harm," Schneiderman said. "Trump University, with Donald Trump's knowledge and participation, relied on Trump's name recognition and celebrity status to take advantage of consumers who believed in the Trump brand."
But Trump's attorney accused Schneiderman of trying to extort campaign contributions from the real estate mogul through his investigation of Trump. Attorney Michael D. Cohen told The Associated Press on Saturday that Schneiderman's lawsuit was filled with falsehoods. Cohen said Trump and his university never defrauded anyone.
He said Trump University provided nearly 11,000 testimonials to Schneiderman from students praising the program and said 98 percent of students in a survey termed the program "excellent."
"The attorney general has been angry because he felt that Mr. Trump and his various companies should have done much more for him in terms of fundraising," Cohen said. "This entire investigation is politically motivated and it is a tremendous waste of taxpayers' money."

Colleges regularly price gouge the hell out of students not to mention get money from the government and never in my 51 years ever heard anyone sue them. NYU for example is *the* largest real estate owners in ALL of New York city. Geee, where are they getting all this cash? And not only that, they regularly run small businesses out of business by raising rents through the roof which is primarily why all you see are high end fashion stores popping up all around the city. Bleecker street now looks like Rodeo drive. How anti-capitalist of NYU.

Don't you just love how the lib press assigns blame in such nonchalant ways? They've been doing this to Zimmerman ever since this story first broke. It's not "During an altercation, Trayvon was shot by Zimmerman"...No, it's "Trayvon was shot during an alteration BY Zimmerman" so people will read it as if Zimmerman was the cause of this altercation.

The Trump University is a TOTAL F’ing SCAM.
Back when Trump had no shame in putting his face on the adverts for the scam, there were some heated threads on PR about it, and I took lots of crap for calling a scam a scam.
Absolutely horrendous scam that riped off the dumbest suckers in flyover country based on the Apprentice TV show scams.
Mindnumbing to believe so many people believe trash entertainment like Apprentice is a basis to make a sound decision on a minimum 1500 dollar seminar scam investment to further their careers.
The 98% is a scam, it was a survey card printed by Trump U to force feed responses, handed out during the 2nd intermission in the one day courses.
Big difference between Trump U and CUNY SUNY public schools in general.
Trump U made explicit and implicit guarantees in their marketing materials, huge whale size whoopers of lies, and did so repeatedly , for years, even after the first rounds of “graduates’ were already sueing Trump U for damages.
Law schools are smart enough to not explicitly guarantee success upon graduation. Trump U went into explicit guarantee territory and then some.
The ABA clamped down on a number of law schools, others took the initiative themselves,to clean up their acts. There was a good bit of misleading data put out about job prospects after graduating, especially by the lower tiered law schools. I never heard of Trump U before so have absolutely no clue what was offered or promised.
If you somehow read my post as endorsing Trump U in any way, then you reached a conclusion that was neither intended nor warranted.
My post made the point that government schools are generally not held accountable for delivering a poor-quality product, and government authorities are seemingly unable or unwilling to do anything about it.

I’ve always wondered if that’s why Gates went ‘Agenda 21’ on us ever since. You wouldn’t think that they (Bill and Melinda) would have that in them since it was the American economic/political system that enabled them to amass a fortune. Or maybe they were closed Marxists from the start.

Interesting. I got a couple of unsolicited e-mail invitations to attend Trump U/seminars, but I didn’t bite. $35,000? Really??? But I still think there is a devious RAT angle going on here.
Sounds like Scheiderman got this from Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals”. Why not? It’s the Chicago/New York way of political extortion and thuggery.
So you think these allegations are unfounded? Purely politcally motivated? Once your knee stops jerking, I’d like to hear your rationale.
Trump is just as crooked as any lib, and you blindly supporting him just because he agrees with you on one or two issues is just sad.
