IN GENTLENESS THERE IS STRENGTH
The parents were devastated. Their young adopted daughter had died in an unusual accident. She suffocated when the drawstring on the hood of her jacket became caught in a playground slide. It was later learned their child was not the first to die this way. Design flaws in both the hood and the slide made this an accident waiting to happen. Some people might have viewed this tragedy as an opportunity to sue the two major corporations for a lucrative settlement. The parents, however, refused. In an interview, the mother said she would have seen any remuneration as "blood money." She and her husband believed the leaders of the two companies never intended to harm her child or any other child. Instead of a lawsuit, the parents appealed to the clothing and slide manufacturers to correct the design flaws which had led to the death of their daughter. Both companies took immediate action. Today the parents are leaders in a campaign to promote child safety, and the companies involved have contributed substantially toward their cause. It is not always wrong to sue. There are times when it is the prudent thing to do. It seems, however, that our society has become increasingly litigious, suing without discretion for profit and personal gain. In light of todays litigious climate, one cannot help but be moved by the choice of these parents not to sue. Instead they chose a "higher ground", earning not only the willing cooperation of both companies, but strong allies in their campaign to promote child safety as well. We might say they took the "pure, peaceable and gentle way" described in the third chapter of James in the Christian scriptures (James 3:17) as opposed to the adversarial way offered them by the courts. An ancient Native American saying reads, "In gentleness there is great strength". Dag Hammarskjold, former Secretary General to the United Nations and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, put it this way, "Nothing is so strong as gentleness, and nothing so gentle as true strength". In the end, the gentle, peaceable way of these parents demonstrated the greater strength and wisdom. CAPT Jane F. Vieira, CHC, USN |

And a lovely good evening to you and Lynn-Dah...((HUGS))
A Blessed Lord’s Day and Shavua Tov to you and yours.
Did you do good at yard sales? Find a fun place to take Lynn-Dah? Maybe just riding in the car is enough of a treat? Any biking for you?

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.
G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

I got some really cool things at the yard sales today.
Lynn-Dah LOVES to ride, but she likes to be with me better. So while I was shopping she jumped out of the car window and came right over to me (but explored a few bushes and trees on the way over) and she picked up three more ticks.Which I Terminated With Extreme Prejudice.
I had my boots on to go biking, and the lightening and thunder started...sooooo....Nawwww. Maybe another day. (sigh)

The Next Chapter
August 25, 2013
Steve was almost 5 when his father, missionary pilot Nate Saint, was killed in 1956, along with four other men, by the Waodani tribe in Ecuador. But as a result of the love and forgiveness demonstrated by the families of the martyred men, there is now a growing community of believers among the Waodani.
As an adult, Steve moved back to Ecuador and became friends with Mincaye, one of the men who killed his father. Steves motto is: Let God Write Your Story. He says, You have a lot of people . . . who want to write their own story and have God be their editor when [it] goes wrong. I decided long ago to let God write my story. When Steve suffered a serious accident in 2012, he reassured his family: Lets let God write this chapter too. His faith continues to carry him toward recovery.
The story continues to unfold for all followers of Jesus Christ. None of us knows how the next chapter of our life will read. But as we look to Jesus and run with endurance the race that is set before us, we can trust Himthe author and finisher of our faith (Heb. 12:1-2). Jesus wrote the beginning of our story, and Hell write the next chapter and the ending as well.
When we stand with Christ in glory,
Looking oer lifes finished story,
Then, Lord, shall I fully know
Not till thenhow much I owe. McCheyne
Let your life tell the story of Christs love and mercy to the world around you.
Read: Hebrews 12:1-11
