A few years ago, Jim Vich would not have dreamed of setting up an elaborate trap to catch wild hogs.
But that was before Oklahoma was invaded by a plague of pigs that devour crops, uproot pastures, destroy wildlife habitats, spread disease to humans and animals, kill trees and even knock over cemetery stones.

Agreed! Drop a few of those huge monsters, male and female to breed for a few years and then let's see how often they refer in derogatory terms to anyone as "pigs".
“>Land owners either dont want the hunters or charge an arm and a leg to hunt pigs on their property.<
.
Aint that the truth.”
Blame it on the lawyers...
I am a Texas land owner...
I shoot them when I can, but I do not want to stay up all night......ergo....we trap them.....then we kill them.....then we process them, freeze them, BBQ and eat them. They do tear up a hay meadow quickly. They are a real problem for those of lis raising hay.
One of the model 92 Winchester copies in .44 mag loaded with hard cast bullets would do fine.
Actually a model 94 in 30-30 would be adequate. So would a 6 or eight and 3/8ths inch barrel revolver in .44 mag.
I guess if one wanted to be completely sure they could use a bolt action in one of the 30-06 power or equivalent rifles.
I prefer a .270. It is too much firepower than needed, but the pigs rarely go even 5 feet. I am old and like to drive up to the beast to load it into the Gator.

Still a good-sized feral boar. I’d be out there with my Beowulf .50cal w/ .500gr HPs in 10-rnd mag; definitely not a pistol. If he did the shooting, he did himself a favor.
Yeah, I agree with that. Kinda surreal, though. I like this one, especially when the Johnny Cash soundtrack begins at around 1:30:
OMG how utterly disgusting and revolting that thing is! (the pig, that is)
When dealing with a creature that size and weight, I’d want to be completely sure. Just saying.
They do a lot of damage:
In that case the .375 H&H magnum would be the lightest choice.
Nice pieces; they’d definitely do the job, too.
Death to all misplaced apostrophes!!
My husband, a veterinarian, say you must eliminate 7 of 10 feral hogs just to make a dent in the population.
Send them to Deadtroit, and let them finish to job that the other animals started..
They're dangerous as hell, and incredibly destructive to agriculture. I believe most states that have been invaded have no limit and it's always open season on the feral hogs.
