Syracuse, NY -- Onondaga County Family Court Judge Michael Hanuszczak today sentenced a 16-year-old to 18 months of confinement for the killing of a 51-year-old man.
The sentence was the maximum the judge could have handed down to the teen, who was recently found guilty of second-degree manslaughter in the beating death of Michael Daniels. The boy was 15 at the time of the incident and has maintained his innocence since his arrest at the end of May.
The judge, who is required by law to sentence a juvenile delinquent to the "least restrictive available alternative consistent with the child's needs and best interests and the need to protect the community," said he made his decision based on a variety of factors.

No, conservatives don’t believe in the morning after pill. Rope and tree would do the job just fine. Conservatives believe in the death penalty AFTER someone has committed a capital crime.
The left likes to insult conservatives as having a wild, wild west mentality... i.e. we are bitter clingers. But when laws protect the guilty more than the law abiders, there is no longer any benefit to having law.
The most basic purpose of courts is to provide enforced mediation to prevent blood feud revenge killings.
Though judges probably don’t realize it anymore, for every injustice that is perpetrated that is not appropriately dealt with, society moves slightly back to the idea of blood feud revenge killings.
So this murderer only gets 18 months for vicious, premeditated, savage murder. Then he will be free to carry out other heinous acts on innocent people. This injustice almost begs a revenge killing, that his life is forfeit for the life he took.
And also this sentence should apply to his murderous accomplices. They were not too young to savagely murder, in a premeditated fashion, an innocent man. Therefore they are not too young to face the consequences.
The local vigilance committee needs to be waiting for this punks release.

Agree. A friend of mine saw her son go to prison for seven years, for slapping his girlfriend. She accused him of punching her (once). I'm not excusing him for what he did, whether it was a slap or hit, but she wasn't injured, and he did seven years while this other punk in the news killed a man. Laws ain't fair.

8-23-13 Racism related charges against Paula Deen dropped. Jackson, who made the charges gave a bizarre statement after the charges had been refused, with prejudice, by the judge: Jackson, who told TODAY in July that her lawsuit “has never been about the N-word,” but rather “to address Ms. Deen’s patterns of disrespect and degradation of people that she deems to be inferior,” suggested Friday that her issues with Deen had been settled.
“During a very difficult period in my life the Deen family gave me hope and the opportunity to work to build a brighter future for my family and me,” Jackson said in a statement to TODAY.
“I assumed that all of my complaints about the workplace environment were getting to Paula Deen, but I learned during this matter that this was not the case. The Paula Deen I have known for more than eight years, is a woman of compassion and kindness and will never tolerate discrimination or racism of any kind toward anyone. I now know that the workplace environment issues that I raised are being reviewed and will in the future no longer be at issue. I wish Ms. Deen and her family all the best in all of their future endeavors and I am very pleased that this matter has been now been resolved and can now be put behind us.”
The ruling may have come too late for Deen, who lost at least 12 lucrative business deals after her May 17 deposition went public, which included revelations that the TV chef had used the N-word and admitted planning a “plantation-style” Southern wedding.

There were many people in the Bible who by all accounts would have been expected to fall into your undesirable category and subject to extinction (aka murder), and God showed them mercy.
Christ taught to treat others as you want them to treat you. But your argument has no empathy at all.
The Bible teaches you will be judged by the same judgment you make against others.
It is one thing to advocate punishing crime. It is quite another to advocate punishing someone for a crime they have not yet committed and show no indication they intend to commit, or to punish someone because of their race or other characteristics that were not of their own choosing or the result of their own actions.
We may know now this criminal is deserving of death. That does not make the case for preemptively murdering him before he was born. The case could be made that this criminal’s action were preventable, not by murdering him in advance, but by Christians reaching out to evangelize the troubled black communities. I have seen first-hand God change many people from these backgrounds and put them on a completely different trajectory.
As a refresher, conservative ideals include personal responsibility, justice and freedom. Your position aspires to none of these.
Works out to 18 months of finishing school for the young man. Plus he figured out how to have the government pay for it.

Um, I am not for abortion (removing a human from its mother). I, along with many others do not consider birth control medication to be abortion. Without birth control we would be overrun with feral thugs in short order.

The morning after pill is abortificient, even more so than regular birth control pills are. If you “believe” otherwise, you are probably placing your faith in lies from Planned Parenthood. Abortion was legalized through lies and is being perpetuated with lies. The morning after pill may possibly prevent conception some of the time. It may also prevent implantion of a fertilized egg (aka embryo) or sometimes destroy an implanted embryo.
Some birth control methods, regardless of a person’s religious beliefs regarding them, do prevent conception. These include condoms and other barrier methods as well as spermicides. Christians have varying positions on birth control. A person can be conservative and accept some forms of birth control, at least their being legal.
But the sanctity of life is an essential element of conservatism. Those who support abortificient birth control are either doing so out of ignorance and deception, or they really are not conservative.
You need to reevaluate your position on the morning after pill. Advocating its use is advocating for a method of abortion.
