A Fluvanna County Middle School principals effort to instill discipline on the first day of classes has sparked a social media outcry among parents and an Internet effort to get her removed.
An online petition says Yardley Farquharson yelled and screamed at students, barred them from talking in hallways and suspended their bathroom privileges for the first and last 10 minutes of classes. Some 200 county residents had signed the petition by Wednesday afternoon, asking the Fluvanna County School Board to remove Farquharson from her job.
Parents referred to her behavior as bullying. Others, including some parent volunteers and school staff, said parents and students overreacted.
Farquharson and Superintendant Gena Keller have scheduled a meeting between parents and administrators for 5:30 tonight at the middle school.
The first day of school was not as smooth as we would have expected. The concerns that have been relayed have been addressed quickly, Keller said. Dr. Farquharson met with students in grade-level meetings on Tuesday, the second day of school, to talk with them, answer their questions and give them more time to get to know her.
The online petition described the first day of classes as much more suited for a prison camp than a school and asked that parents of Fluvanna County sign this petition for the immediate removal of this administrator before irreparable harm is inflicted on our children.
The [first-day] delivery was made in such a way that it was demeaning to the kids. It was only the second day of school and already they didnt want to go back. They were afraid the principal would yell at them again, said John Flick, who started the online petition at www.change.org.

I think i like her!
Did the animals behave better? That’s what I want to know
Oh those poor little darlings...harmed for life.
That’s right. Side with the government union thug screaming at kids who are stuck in a virtual prison learning nothing. You turned out just as programmed, comrade.
What they need is some old school nuns, the kind that have nothing showing but their face.

the first thing that has to be done in the next America is to reserve the term “doctor” to real doctors, the ones who treat the sick and injured....
You forget. Bullying by didiots/demokkkRATS is A-OK. It’s us racis’ that aren’t allowed to bully.
Have you been in a school in recent decades? How much learning do you suppose happens in a chaotic environment ruled by feral children?
Aye, now it has become the entitlement of every "professional student". At least the title is usually accompanied by crushing debt.
Wouldn't be because of this sort of thing, would it? /s
The word you’re seeking is “physician”, or “surgeon”. There were “Doctors of Philosophy” (PhD) before physicians and surgeons were called “Doctor”.
Mrs Trunchbull?
In my day, we wouldn’t have even known who the principal was if it weren’t for assemblies and their signatures on report cards. I’ll bet she refers to the students as “MY students”. You hear that all the time now, and it’s sick.
I don’t care what she does with the children unfortunate enough to have parents that send them to public school - as long as she doesn’t do it with my money.
aaahhhh
did the poor kids get the feeling they were not in charge??
poor things
heh
Better that than rapes in classrooms and hallways and teachers too frightened to stand up to the feral thugs running wild.
Rules, regulations and laws are always enforced by bullies, it's just human nature.
I read somewhere the other day that physicians in the UK often don’t go by “doctor”, but I forget if that is nowadays or in days gone by.
"My people", is equally disgusting. Referring to employees.
