So what if he disclosed information that potentially threatened American lives and security interests? Manning's a "frail guy who doesn't look threatening to anyone." So you have to question the length of his sentence.
Such was the bizarre logic that Chris Matthews employed as he bemoaned Bradley Mannings' sentence--which could in practice see him freed in less than 10 years. Matthews was also moved by the fact that in military prison, Manning will be surrounded by people "who won't like him."

Poor baby! Ping to Today show list.
I curious if the judge who gave this light sentence is a lesbian.
“A frail guy who doesn’t look threatening to anyone”. That’s what the cops thought when they first went to Jeffery Dahmer’s and found the guy in the hall screaming in Vietnamese. But Dahmer made up an excuse for him and the cops left. The guy ended up in the freezer that night.
Kind of like this guy?
Manning will spend the next 35 years in solitary 23 hours a day.
Heinrich Himmler looked like the biggest wimp you ever saw. Just a mild, harmless guy. (snicker)
Of course Matthews sympathizes with the subversive pervert. He still supports our president, right?
Actually to me she looks a hell of a lot scarier then Lee Oswald.
He [Obama ] is not my president. He may be yours, but he is not mine.
There is no way Manning should have been trusted with that data!
Someone else deserves to go down, perhaps they are more culpable than Manning himself.
What has happened to the military that this guy was left in this position? He should have been a file clerk keeping inventories of supplies like toilet paper and socks.
So was Doc Holiday. And he had advanced tuberculosis to boot. Ask Billy Clanton how that turned out.
Also like Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, two of the mousiest, most insignificant looking people anyone would ever see, but they betrayed our whole nuclear weapons program to the Soviets. It’s those inconspicuous, little people who disappear into the woodwork who make the best, most dangerous spies, not the James Bond types, who’re quickly neutralized or flipped.
Gave away secrets of atomic weaponry to the Soviet Union and fueled the Cold War but really now, he LOOKS harmless...
So what does he think of Lee Harvey Oswald? ... .who weighed only 131 pounds?

I can feel compassion toward criminals, even someone like Bradley Manning. I’ll even agree that Manning is almost certainly not a physical threat to anyone else. However, it’s not really about Bradley Manning at this point. It’s about discouraging others from doing the same crime. Otherwise, we might as well declassify everything.
He indirectly is responsible for the unnecessary deaths of more than a few US and allied soldiers and also a number of innocent civilians as well.
