The mud is flying early this cycle.
It is three years and three months before the next presidential election, but all it took for Ted Cruz to have his good name smeared was to take a single trip to Iowa where he mentioned that some social conservatives have urged him to run for president.
For this provocation, the freshman senator from Texas -- and new Tea Party idol -- found himself portrayed in the media by classmates who havent spoken to him since he was a freshman in college as not merely a didactic and right-wing teenager, but as some kind of sexual deviant.
The story, which was the lead piece in The Daily Beast on Monday, featured Cruzs freshman roommate -- who is clearly not a social conservative -- dishing a heavy dose of criticism and innuendo. That roommate, Craig Mazin, said he was afraid of the influence Cruz has achieved in life, while relating a salacious, if sketchy, story about Cruz menacing female students at Princeton by wearing a paisley bathrobe in their wing of the coed dorm.
In this instance, the supporting evidence used to impugn the character of a yet another conservative was so thin that the Daily Beasts hatchet job might be easily dismissed -- except for two factors. First, it was touted all day long on various liberal websites. Second, this was part of a disturbing pattern.

Meanwhile, a 40-something ‘Tony Schmeckle’ can show his wiener to the internet, ad nauseum...and can still run for Mayor.
At least Cruz is remembered at his Alma Mater...
It is most amusing in the Beast article how horrified the liberals were that four years of Princeton and three years of Harvard law couldn’t brainwash Cruz into being a liberal.
Also funny how they can find all these people and even his Senior Thesis, but no one at the MSM could find Obama’s roomates, nor Hillary’s senior thesis.
The best they got is he wandered around in a bathrobe when he was 17.
Ted Cruz should not run for president—he is un-tested. let him season out a few terms first. he’s off to a great start. Lets get him to A) The Senate or B) in as Governor of Texas first and see how he does.
I don’t get it. What’s wrong with wearing the paisley bathrobe?
Bingo. No one remembers Obama at Columbia.
Like Hillary being a lesbian
OUCH!!!!!
My current position regarding Ted Cruz, as one of his represented citizens as well as a constitutional conservative:
Senator Cruz should be upright and declare that he ^^is not eligible to run for president^^ according to the proper understanding of “natural born citizen”.
This would, simultaneously, declare that his conservative chops mitigate his ego as well as throwing the NBC argument back on the POTUS. Accordingly, he should support -in the same breath- a viable conservative candidate.
If he declares for the presidency and then rests on the unproven precedence of Obamugabe’s election, he will not be supported ^for any office^ by the majority of voters in West Texas and should not be considered viable by conservatives across America.
Ahem! Like Larry Sinclair's bong-toting, two-night stand?
Are you really a freeper? Ted Cruz IS a senator.
You got the problem, not Ted Cruz.
If he declared himself ineligible to run for PResident, he would be LYING. You need to inform yourself of the facts, wake up, step up and STOP.
He has already declared himself eligible and has explained why. HIS declared belief of “natural born” is that he was an American at birth via his American mother. His declared belief has already been stated that natural born is the opposite of naturalized.
If he did what you demand, he would be LYING against his own stated beliefs.
That is why your demand of him is ridiculous.
It’s a shame you just refuse to “get it”.
It would be like demanding that someone declare that their name isn’t really xxxxx xxxxx, when that has always been their name.
Absurd.
Paisley is sooooo gay...............
Nope.
Natural born is:
Born to parents of US citizenship on american soil or on foreign soil if in sevice to the country. Both parents MUST be citizens of the US.
The nationality of his father rules him ineligible under the plain defeinition of NBC.
Apparently, you have a problem with the plain language of the US Constitution.
Sorry, no one cares about your imaginary definition of natural born citizen.
“Senator Cruz should be upright and declare that he ^^is not eligible to run for president^^ according to the proper understanding of natural born citizen.”
Whatever you and I might think, the law, as it stands today is that “being born a citizen” (which Cruz was) means he is a natural born citizen.
I’m a West Texas voter and I would support him.
At least he wasn’t naked. And at least he didn’t ‘wander around gay Chicago bath houses’ like the Homo-in-Chief. Cruz is as clean and pure as a newborn babe compared to most of the Democrats.
