“Ted Cruz became an instant U.S. citizen.”

The author lied to the readers. Ted Cruz DID NOT immediately become a U.S. citizen at birth. His parents or he had to APPLY to the U.S. Secretary of State for approval of a request to claim U.S. citizenship. Consequently, Ted Cruz is a U.S. citizen upon approval of the U.S. State Department, and he is not a “naural born citizen” of the United States.

Sorry but you are incorrect. Title 8 section 1401 subsection G clearly shows that Mr Cruz has US citizenship from birth. Thus he is a naturally born citizen and has never required naturalization.

Everyone trying to make their “favorite candidate” fit the letter of the law is not my idea of “right”.

Two citizen parents who is born in the USA was the law until all the abstractions of McCain and Obama. ( I am not saying McCain was wrong, only that congress saw the need to clarify a citizen stationed on an official duty area. Now Obama is another problem entirely, as is Rubio.)

If the Constitution needs to be updated for the current qualifications there is a process to do that!

Thank you for that succinctly stated view.

What do you believe the founders would say about the child of an English lord who had visited the U.S. a few years after its war with England (and its new Constitution) and sired the child by a U.S. citizen?

This is the problem:

"Rafael Cruz, now a pastor in suburban Dallas, fled Cuba for Texas as a teen in 1957. He remained a Cuban citizen until he became a naturalized American in 2005."

Many Cubans kept thier citizenship with dream of returning home after Castro.

Wrong, I have nieces and nephews born in Canada, with an America and Canada parent at their birth, instantly, they had dual citizenship.

Wrong WhiskeyX

My son was born in The United Kingdom of American Parents. I did not have to file for citizenship for him. I had to file a CRBA “Consular Report of Birth Abroad” with the United States Embassy in London. My son was automatically a United States Citizen.

Link to details of CRBA for birth abroad. http://travel.state.gov/law/family_issues/birth/birth_593.html

He is also a citizen of the United Kingdom. I filed for and obtained a UK passport for him, and it was perfectly legal. My son can not be President of the United States as he is a dual national with dual allegiance. He can be President is he renounces his British Citizenship.

Ted Cruz can be President is he renounces his Canadian Citizenship. It would be very amusing if he has already done this and these attacks on him are moot.

Sorry, but you are ABSOLUTELY AND CATEGORICALLY WRONG.

Persons born to US citizens abroad are United States citizens AT BIRTH, and before any documentation of the fact is ever issued. Just like persons born in the United States are citizens AT BIRTH and before they receive official documentation in the form of a birth certificate.
