The senator steals a march on potential 2016 rivals.
The early dynamics of the 2016 Republican presidential-primary contest were jolted on the morning of Friday, July 19, in a ballroom on the third floor of the Marriott hotel in downtown Des Moines. It was there, in front of coffee-sipping pastors, that Senator Ted Cruz of Texas wowed the kingmakers of the Iowa caucuses for the first time. Without notes and ignoring the podium, he roamed the carpeted dais for nearly an hour, quoting Scripture and musing about the Democrats and their occasional affinity for Satan. The reception was rapturous. Many ministers eagerly asked Cruzs advisers where they could sign up for a campaign that doesnt exist, while others encircled Cruz and laid their hands on him to pray.
Veteran operative Chuck Laudner, who managed former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorums victorious Iowa campaign last year, was in the room and remembers the scene vividly and he knew immediately that all the post-2012 conventional wisdom about the 2016 field was, with one speech, obsolete. To him and others who make their living as consultants within the Republican universe, the visceral response by Iowa preachers confirmed Cruzs ascent as a new, potentially disruptive force in the GOPs presidential-primary calculus. Instead of the looming battle for tea-party support in Iowa and South Carolina featuring a group of middleweight contenders vanilla governors, House members, and little-known senators it appeared that a Cruz phenomenon could overwhelm them all. (snip)
He channels the anger and frustration that conservatives have not only with President Obama, but also with the Republican establishment. His ability to seize that undercurrent and connect with those voters has elevated him.

Wasn’t Cruz born in Canada? How can he run for president?
Of course he has far more enemies than friends, and we know the reason why (John 17).
Praying for his protection and his strength and perseverance and reliance on the Lord, and may the Lord grant us repentance that we may turn back to God as a nation and not be totally destroyed.
And hence, we get all of these sudden MSM stories about Cruz’s eligibility and FR’s in-house circular firing squad becoming overly active.
His mother was born and bred in Delaware.
When Cruz was born, there were only two kinds of citizens - natural born or naturalized. He’s the former since, even though he was born in Canada, one of his parents was a U.S. citizen at the time of his birth.
Others will differ with my opinion.
“Carpeted dias”?
Isn’t that Latin for, “shag the day”?
At the most opportune time, say just before the Hildebeast announces her candidacy, Cruz should make a speech for support of an Article V amendment convention.
It would consume the political oxygen, change the focus of national debate over night . . . and just may lead to our nation's salvation.
He is an American Citizen by birth. He was never a naturalized citizen and therefor by definition he is a natural born citizen.
He is as qualified to serve as BHO or Juan McAmnesty.
Notice that it's ALWAYS about the party with these morons and NEVER about CONSERVATISM.
...and the pubbie insiders say he doesn’t have a chance in the election........the same thing they said about Reagan.
Given the fact the current tax code is the #1 cause of political corruption in Washington, DC, can be used by the Federal government to punish or favor any taxpaying entity, and will now cost US$500 BILLION per year in compliance costs, phasing out the income tax in favor of something like FairTax (H.R. 25/S. 122) would be the biggest "return of the power to the people" since the American Revolution. And it would create the biggest economic boom in American history because we no longer tax the process of earning money.
You can bet even now the communist Dems are sniffing out all of his tax returns from age 2 forward, and Gloria Alred is busy mining the fields for anyone who knows of anyone, anywhere Ted made “uncomfortable” or looked at ‘funny’,,,and that’s just the start. I am sure the Dems are farming Ted’s constituents to find the ONE disgruntled poor soul whom Ted offended,,,and will trot out said soul at the most opportunistic time.
I think the translation is “shag the podium”
“...and the pubbie insiders say he doesnt have a chance in the election........the same thing they said about Reagan.”
that’s because the pubbie insiders don’t plan on giving Cruz a chance and will work against him at every turn.
The media is predictable. They’ll exhaust their ink, telling the nation he’s eligible, then when he gets close to winning the nomination, or just after that, they’ll lower the boom. Objective, to throw his campaign into disarray and make the party look foolish and incompetent. (And of course exteme.)
However, I don’t really expect he’ll get that far. More likely we’ll still have open primaries, since nobody ever lifts a finger to fix that problem. There’ll be another Romney run, or some other watered-down RINO loser will step forward. Meanwhile the Dems need only locate another melanin-rich individual. If they can’t, they can always permit a few million illegals to vote.
Voting doesn’t work for us any longer. People need to accept that.
LOL
I’m wondering if Paul/Cruz either order would be unstoppable. If only they can get past the RNC, that is.
Cue up the scab pickers...
Amen, brother!
The passage of the Sixteenth Amendment turned the government into a criminal enterprise - one need not wonder why it is populated by thieves, crooks and liars.
