So what say we conduct the experiment that could – and I emphasize could here – finally settle the question once and for all. Let’s just nominate somebody who has welded on all three legs of the stool and leaves not a sliver of daylight for the squishiness question.
A nominee who will state without ambiguity that we’re going to bomb the crap out of anyone who is actively working against our interests. One who flatly proclaims that there will be no abortions for anyone and new Supreme Court justices will be inclined to overturn Roe v Wade.
They will solemnly aver that we will slash both taxes and spending in a serious fashion, consequences be damned, and that any money spent on immigration reform will go toward arresting and deporting illegals while massively strengthening the borders.
And if the only path available to deal with argumentative Democrats is to shut the government down, then By God they will personally be the one to turn out the lights as the last one out the door.
But who is left to fill the bill? As I indicated at the top – with apologies to any of your other favorites – we should narrow it down to people who have the name recognition to at least launch a viable campaign and have actively indicated at least some interest in running. Sounds like Ted Cruz or Peter King to me. And, yes, let’s toss in Sarah Palin who is far from past her prime and has never entirely ruled out the possibility, while clearly meeting all of the criteria above.
We tried it one way in 2008 and 2012, and it’s only fair to give the other side a chance to walk the walk, so let’s get everyone from both sides

I apologize.
Somehow I got the idea that Steve King was just a tad to right of Peter King on immigration.
Since my earlier post, I ran a google on Steve King immigration and was reminded of his comments which I had forgot.
OK, he would be a good candidate.
I love Palin, and find her philosophy and belief system to be a near mirror image of mine. I think she would make a terrific leader. My concern is that she is too sullied based on past attempts to take the media on while being a bit unprepared, at the time, to do so. I don’t know that her image can recover enough to attract the borderline RINO vote at the polls that we would need to get a candidate elected. If she runs, I’ll be in her camp and will work harder than I ever have in an attempt to get her elected.

just saw a big article somewhere (don’t remember where I saw it) pointing out that King is a full on RINO. Listed some of the reasons why too. I think it was on FR though and was with a video. I do like Cruz and Palin though.
No problem, I get the two confused in name plenty myself.
Steve King isn’t perfect but he’s certainly in the top 10%.

Paul is young for sure. But quick-witted, well spoken, attractive in ways McVain never could be and conservative enough for now. It’s way too soon to be picking a candidate but talk is cheap :)

Anything but more big government fascism and socialism. Anyone that can reasonably roll back the obama socialist tide has my vote.
Why do we have to kiss the ring of the GOP? This is a free country, if citizens want to get together in any venue to listen to the people that they believe in then what is the GOP or media to do about it. Let them go suck their thumbs. Who needs them.
The GOP deserves a lot of disrespect. There is no reason why Tea Party people, 9/12 people and other conservative groups cannot get together all over the country in auditoriums, public parks, county fairs, churches or any other venues to discuss the important issues with lots of interaction from the audience—a real town meeting.
All McCain people, Bush people and Grover Norquist people or establishment corporatists cannot join. Out with the old guard.
We have plenty of time to start discussions of what the issues should be and we can start sweeping out some of the old cobwebs of faux conservatism that have bedeviled us in the past.
This would be real grassroots politics. No media around, no politcal machines or political machinations.
Over the RINO’s dead bodies . . . OK, if they insist.
Palin will never be a VP candidate for a second time. There is no reason for her to wish to endure the slanders and calumnies of the left for a second national election without having the top spot on the ticket.
Count on Jeb to run full out to the left, right out of the gate. Enough to make up with the Left all those votes he’s going to lose on the Right, the conservative base, who will really be prepared this time to leave the Party.
Personally speaking, without a party of conservative values, there is but one party now and will be in ‘16 apparently, and it isn’t mine.
Where are the leaders among all these marvelous conservatives who talk it but won’t walk it. There is no future in the existing Republican Party for conservatives, yet the talkers are cashing in while leading us no where really. Certainly they are putting out nothing to prepare a third party for us in ‘16. What does that tell us?
The clock is running out.
