Cleveland Police Disciplining 75 Cops After An Unarmed Couple Was Shot At 137 Times

Cleveland police officials said Friday they're disciplining 75 of officers for their involvement in a police chase that ended in the shooting deaths of an unarmed man and woman, The Plain Dealer reports.

The pair were shot at 137 times while in their car, parked in a middle school parking lot. No officers were injured in what police called a "full blown-out" firefight.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine told reporters in February that "there is nothing normal about this case. ... This is a tragedy."

In November, about 60 police vehicles pursued the two suspects in a 25-minute chase spanning three cities. One suspect, 30-year-old Malissa Williams, was shot 24 times, and the other, 43-year-old Timothy Russell, was shot 23 times.

~snip~

But after the chase ended in a gunfight near Heritage Middle School, police checked the car and realized neither Williams nor Russell was armed.

Agree completely. I just don’t think stupidity and complete disregard for other people merits summary execution without any due process whatsoever.

Unfortunately, the two cokeheads are the canaries in the coal mine.

You should do some reading on who Miranda was, as in ‘Miranda rights’. He’s was a stone cold scumbag.

I guess the alternative is to let criminals know cops won't chase them if they start driving a little crazy.

So if your family is mowed down in a crosswalk by some cop moving at 85mph, while chasing a 19 year old idiot for stealing a beer, it's OK by you?

My family would get out of the way.

lol...And if the stupid 19 year old rear ended them at 85mph due to being chased for that stolen beer, killing them all....Would ya be A-OK with that?

Yeah, I'd blame the 19 year-old.

Because the 19 year old beer thief should have known better?..So your entire family is dead because they had to make that big crime arrest and chase the 19 year old all over town at 85mph... Riiiiight...10-4 good buddy

I agree with everything except the dismissal of the cops who falsified reports to protect their own. They should do time for felony fraud and be barred from ever holding a job in the law enforcement community again.

If they’re that crooked and that willing to lie, they can easily get jobs as journalists or one of Obama’s advisors.

Reading the report, officers were reporting over the radio the suspect vehicle rammed police cars, other reports had an officer down, and yet others had the passenger pointing a gun at them through the back window..and the suspects were shooting at them...

None of this was true...The cops clearly went hysterical...

” I seem to lose more & more respect for police every day. Maybe that is because we only hear the negatives.”

Or maybe it’s because of the ratio of “negatives” to “positives’ is near 100% negative, ya think? I don’t know about you, but when I look at the “negative” odds of any interaction with the police, I opt for staying as far from them as I am able.

Try reading the actual report on what occurred.

http://www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/OhioAttorneyGeneral/files/93/9312f0eb-5d21-4c1c-b2cb-fac47528258e.pdf

Regardless if these two were high or drunk, the cops here went totally hysterical. In fact the cops were seeing and reporting things which never occurred during this event.

Probably ran out of bullets.

Holy cats. They were only 30 shots short of breaking the record for the number of rounds the police shot into Bonnie and Clyde’s car. But Bonnie & Clyde had two machine guns in their car and they had already murdered two policemen.

“The way to restore America is to hold everyone to higher standards not make excuses for sloth and evil.”

With the way this nation’s “civilan” LEO’s are routinely given a pass for murder, good luck with your “higher standards” idea. It’s a conspiracy. The cops are in cahoots with the DA’s and the courts. No one in the “justice system” is there to stand up for the dead citizen. There is seldom one of these “killings” where justice is served. And if you want to see how it works firsthand, just try filing a civilian complaint against a cop. I did, and I can tell you that they bring the “system” down on anyone who complains about their behavior, including threats of incarceration. They don’t investigate your complaint, but rather seek to intimidate you and obfuscate the truth. In my case, they were only concerned about how the complaint might affect the cop’s personnel record.

This person doubts that running from the police, while unarmed, is a capital offence.

You're not giving Bonnie and Clyde enough credit. Methinks the count of law enforcement agents killed was nine.

In B&C's car there were ten Colt 45's, three BARs, the shotgun in Bonnie's lap, the Colt .38 taped to Bonnie's thigh and the handgun pulled by retired Texas Ranger Capt. Frank Hamer from Clyde's waistband.

No, not like some here.

I can see that both parties in this exchange acted stupidly, though it was initiated by a drunk coked up loser.

I can see that police chases are dangerous to the public, but that a policy NOT to chase criminals may be more dangerous in the long run.

Nope, no real answers here, except life is hard, keep your head on a swivel, don't run from or try to fight the cops. Heck, talk nicely to them, show them your new Glock 29, and they may let you go with nothing but well-wishes.

Notmuch of an answer, but it's worked for me so far.

They "deserved" whatever resulted from the mayhem THEY initiated.

If you believe otherwise I cannot possibly respect you.

47 hits out of 137 shots breaks down to a 34% hit rate. Cops are lousy shots.
